New feature: Restricted Bandwidth Mode for MV

Every customer system is different. To ensure that you have the best experience using MV, you can disable features that require additional bandwidth. Motion Recap, which creates composite images to make finding events faster and more efficient, can be disabled using this toggle. (Motion Recap will be available to all networks at the end of June 2019, but it can be disabled as early as now.)

The option can be found under the "Quality and retention" tab of each camera. More on this toggle in this article here.

Is this a per camera setting?

Yes, it is. @EJN

Is it significant? I would imagine those stills are peanuts compared to the actual video that needs to be stored as well?

Currently, the only feature that is disabled in this mode is Motion Recap. When Motion Recap is enabled, the upstream bandwidth can spike up to ~200Kbps as indicated here.

Hi everyone,

We are excited to announce that Motion Recap is now live to all second-generation MV cameras that do not have restricted bandwidth mode enabled. If Motion Recap is enabled, Motion Alert emails will also now include a Motion Recap image. More information here.
