For anyone wanting to know the answer in the future I can confirm that when you Combine multiple networks each with their own maps with devices plotted this data isn’t lost. Customer had APs plotted on a map in one Network and switches plotted in another network. Both maps were available in the Combined network.

Something tells me here no matter which way they authenticate they’re going to end up on your corporate network. How is your internal network segmented?

As @thomasthomsen has stated, you’ll need a separate link into each switch with loopguard configured on the switch uplinks

As mentioned by @RWelch - you run the risk of buying an expensive doorstop. Even if the device is unclaimed should you hit a hardware issue the warranty is bound to the initial purchaser so you’ll struggle with support. Would always recommend purchasing new from a reseller.

As you say - it’s certainly possible with MXs as I’ve done that in the past. Had to wait a little while before the license was processed. If you’re early on in the sales process they may ask you to RMA and then buy a new lic.

Hi All, I could lab this up and test myself but wanted to see if anyone has experience with the following: Customer has all networks bound to various Templates for 30+ sites. APs and switches are in different networks and bound to their respective templates. Each Network has a map with the APs and Switches plotted on each. What happens if you combine both a wired and wireless network, will they lose their maps? Or will both the AP and switch ones merge as one?

I would just have to ask why? Just as long as the SVI L3 interface IPs aren’t the same then you shouldn’t have an issue.

You certainly can @PhilipDAth - I’ve done it before. The dashboard will whine about license violation but it’ll run for 30 days

Unfortunately this is why I’ve struggled with MXs in the edu space - filtering and real-time reporting. The majority of my edu customers are using securely and comes highly rated.

Working with a customer on a 30+ site MX deployment whilst also working with a University to define their future network state. Cricket training has started in advance of the new season - goal here is to learn the ramp shot. The pros make it look easy 🏏

@KarstenI - define affordable….! Given the PoE requirements I don’t see this hitting mainstream for a while. People are still playing catch-up with wifi6 and 6e.

Hi @Ash24 , you only need a single license for an MX HA pair. SD-WAN will also failover to secondary WAN should your Primary link fail.
