Is there a Meraki team also set up for Rosetta@home on Boinc? The reason I ask is because I have been having trouble getting CPU tasks with Folding@Home for quite a while (most of the systems I have available don't have GPU's) and Rosetta@home seems to have plenty of jobs available and also is going towards covid-19.
@Frankthetank, unfortunately, we don't have a good way to compare the points between the two platforms. While F@H is ramping up the number of work units that they have, sometimes the CPU ones aren't immediately available. Personally, I've found that pausing the folding and then resuming can force the Folding at Home client to reattempt the download.
@Jwiley78, looks good to me! Once you've completed some work units the points earned will update and will start to reflect towards "Team Cisco Meraki."
As in general this would be a good cause, the first thing what i thought was, does nobody have any security concerns?
We are hard trying to keep everybody out of our networks and computers, with placing all kind of state of the art security mechanism, to then grant someone we really don't know to sit on our computers. And this probably as a root application.
@JanVincent you're not doing too bad yourself . But yes, the competition's end results will likely be clear sooner than later depending on who has access to most compute power. Still it's good that we all collectively help a good cause! @MeredithW might also add one or two random winners?
I no longer have the compute power I did when I was messing around with GPU miners, but I find folding to be somewhat enjoyable. I may even build a smaller rig with old parts I have scatters around to keep at it once all is said and done. Either way it's a good cause to put some compute power into. Shame it's not winter because it puts off the heat even with a single GPU.
@BrechtSchamp haha thanks. Definitely gunning for that bag so I could use it as a gym bag. Maybe the Meraki marketing team has more than one collecting dust in the closet. lol
UPDATE: We have been blown away by your participation in this cause! Your folding has even helped bump the Cisco Meraki team into the top400!
To celebrate your success and encourage even more participation, we've decided to add 3 additional chances for you to win swag.
Everyone who joins theCisco Meraki teamand earns at least 200 "Credits" towards fighting COVID-19 will be entered into a random drawing for a Meraki Cloud Pin set.
When the contest ends on Friday, June 12th, we will announce the top 3 ranking winners and ALSO the 3 randomly selected winners from the rest of the Folding@home Cisco Meraki team. That means, even if you aren't able to contribute at a high enough level to compete for the top ranks, you'll still have a chance to win sweet swag!
