My parents home runs Meraki. One day my mother called me because their internet had gone down. After a bit of ranting and raving about how it doesn't make sense for me to run their house on enterprise equipment when I cant be home to manage it, my mother said she would ask my older brother who lives close to them to check it out later in the day. Given that his expertise is IT management, and a lack of a login for their network, that was going to be tough. I checked their network, and saw the issue was just a cable that had been unplugged, which was strange as nobody goes near the networking stuff besides me. Texted my father and brother who would be at the house later in the day to let them know which cable it was so one of them could fix it. Turns out my brother had been walking around the basement earlier that day and stepped on the cabling. 🤦

Well, found a workaround in the meantime. I can just take the timestamp from the MV71 alert, then generate a snapshot for it using the "snapshot" api, and embed that.

The first generation supports the alerts. Evidence seems to be indicating that the "access denied" page is only when I am trying to access a ImageURL from my MV71 alert, as opposed to my MV12. Maybe because dashboard doesn't offer "Motion Recap image"s for the 71? Seems a bit strange that I am even getting a URL, that does seem to be tied to an image file. But what can you do.

Hi all, Working with the motion alert Webhook data. The desired goal was to embed the snapshot image in an email notification $email_body .= '<img src="'. $webhook['alertData']['imageUrl'] .'" alt="Snapshot" width="500" height="281" /><br>'; Which worked. Once. So now I am sending both the URL and embedding the image. $email_body .= "Image URL: " . $webhook['alertData']['imageUrl'] . "<br>";

Hi team. Bit of an odd question. Using sockets to send my GET's, and if I send it directly to https://api.meraki.com it redirects to n151.meraki.com. All well and good, I just followed the redirect and used that GET as my reference. My question is if the API's all go through n151, or if I will really need to parse that initial response to the reply from https://api.meraki.com for the correct node. This is intended for anyone to be able to use, not just myself.

I would like if the search dashboard function was able to actually search all settings and fields in dashboard, for when you are looking for a specific setting or button and can't find it. Similar to how in macOS if you go to the Help tab in the menu bar for an application, you can search for something, and it will show you exactly where the setting is. I spent like 15 minutes the other day just trying to find where the grant support access to MV's button went.

It isn't too much problem right now, as all the network calls, parsing jsons, and iterating through the returned list of clients and bluetooth devices takes upwards of 3-4 seconds with my small network. Thats for sure something I will do once that part gets threaded though! Any reason you chose 500ms by any chance?

Thats actually the plan (eventually). At this point its still a script, not an app. The basic idea I am implementing is that camera alerts are really only a concern when you aren't home. So to check if you are home, check the network and bluetooth clients for devices that you take with you when you leave the house. (reword for business applications) I ended up using the idea as a school project (So on a sharp time limit), and at this point my goal was to end up with a python script that anyone with an MVx2 or better can use without having to set up a Webhooks server or anything, pure API. The result: https://github.com/andrewbluepiano/SmarterSecurityCamera-MVSense Eventually in the next few weeks I will thread client parsing in the python version, then make a Webhook version of the same idea, likely using email alerts. But that all went beyond the scope of what I am trying to accomplish, basically a proof of concept.

Cool. I was thinking in terms of when you create a new zone, where you can specify the confidence level required to register a person. I actually wanted it to be less confident, trying to register motion / activity more than just people, basically have a 1% zone on the entire FOV, but whatever the default is seems to be doing alright.

Hi, This may be a question for the API area, but is there a way to change, or even just see the people sensing sensitivity for the full frame, zone 0? Mainly I am wondering if zone 0's returned people count is actually a people count, or if it is just overall motion, as I am getting mixed results from tests. It doesn't seem like you can specify a zone with the full frame otherwise.

Thank you!! Thats the route I was thinking I would need to take, but I was looking at the t0 param, and couldn't figure out how to format it. Didn't even notice the timespan one. Also didn't realize the status field existed 😆. Thanks for the help!! Out of curiosity, what site is that documentation under from the SS you posted? Haven't seen that before.

Currently doing the call below, but getting results with MAC addresses of clients that have been disconnected from the network for hours. Is there another call, or better way to do this? I have a PowerMac G4 that I have converted into a carrying case. Fill it with various things depending on where I'm going, tools, whatnot. Very useful. Edit: ~The speaker works, cut up and wired in an aux cable. Plans to add an amplifier. ~The components are safe and sound, and work fine. Vintage Mac collector, and this was a model I had 2 of, so I stripped it.

Maintaining insight across the entire network, including into end devices, and managing it all on one platform. Too often you have to aggregate information from multiple platforms to some different management dashboard system. With Meraki HW and SM, it would seem like the perfect solution to be able to monitor security from the dashboard.

Hi Carl, As you are probably aware, computers can only communicate with other if they are on the same network, a network being a group of computers connected together. The problem is, when you have hundreds of people connected to the same network, you need a way to control who can talk to who, and where different information is sent. VLAN's, virtual local area networks, are the solution to this issue. VLAN's behave like seperate computer networks for the computers that use them, giving administrators more precise controls for network traffic. In short, VLAN's are used in a network to create subnetworks to help control how information flows through the network as a whole. ~Andrew~
