The MV team is excited to share Template support for MV Cameras. This will allow cameras to be included in networks bound with a template.

A few points of note:

  1. Any new templates created will allow adding MV’s to networks they are bound to.
  2. For any existing networks already bound to a template, MV’s can also be added to them with steps mentioned in the KB article below
  3. No MV configurations are included within the templates. The configurations will continue to be managed via profiles and API’s

The frame rate for the video quality setting with 20 fps is being changed to 24 fps. This affects the "high" video quality setting on 1080P video resolution. Only the frame rate is changing, the bitrate will remain the same.

The Meraki Vision Portal, in beta, is a new interface designed for MV video users. It is for video-related activities, like watching live or historical footage, searching, and exporting video. To access the Vision Portal, navigate to Cameras > Monitor > Vision Portal.

There is a new image quality option for MV32: 2058x2058 resolution at 1Mbps bitrate and 8fps. This new 2058x2058 option could provides organizations with a higher level of detail (due to increased pixel count), while still maximizing retention due to the lower bitrate. This option will also be compatible with Cloud Archive. For more information on image quality on MV32, please see the Image Quality on the MV32 article in documentation.

MV cameras now support role-based camera permissions for SAML/SSO. This allows organizations to better scale operations by managing individual permissions in one place, outside of the dashboard.

Once configured, this allows camera users to be able to log in the dashboard through the Meraki application within your identity provider.

Low-latency HLS (LHLS) is now available for second generation MV smart cameras. LHLS reduces the delay in live streaming caused by the buffering period with HLS. Using LHLS, the LAN direct stream has a delay of less than 2 seconds.
