SFTP is all tunneled over SSH, which removes the need for such NAT hacks. Past experience has dictated that any sort of NAT considerations for FTP aren't likely to be implemented given that FTP is a cleartext protocol that transmits usernames and passwords unprotected.   As for the the firewall rules, "implicit" implies that it's an unspecified behavior, which is not the case. Yes, there's a default allow rule, but it's very much explicit. ... View more

I have the same issue. Autonomous Cisco 3702's connected to a burn table will not connect to our Meraki MR46E AP's. I can see them connect but will not get an IP address. I called Meraki support who said they was not compatible but could not give me an article stating that.  If they are not compatible, can you suggest a devise to use that would be compatible to connect our devices that have an ethernet port but are not wireless to our Meraki WIFI? ... Regarding this fine answer a couple of years ago now, are there any news as to this "Bug" ? Can I still go only to 255 VLANs on a MX ? Only asking because I have some issues with switch ACLs, where you cannot apply them only on the Layer 3 switch, but they are also applied on all other switches - And my only workaround is to instead create all layer 3 on the MX ... I am having the same issue.  College campus, each building is basically a network.  I am only seeing the issue on stacked switches and the issue only shows up on the switches in the stack that don't have the uplink.  For instance, I have 4 switches in a stack, switch 1 has the fiber uplink and 2, 3 and 4 are using switch 1's uplink.  2, 3, and 4 have a DNS Misconfig error and won't forward packets.  Switch 1 isn't reporting the error.  Having this issue across 8 buildings/networks.  At my science center, I have 46 switches but only two stacks, a stack of 2 switches and a stack of 6 switches.  Switch 1 in each stack has the uplink and is fine but the others are error'd out.  Also, the other 38 switches have no errors, every switch in the building goes back to a Cisco 9500.   Did you find a solution to your issue?  ... Hey Team, I'm not part of the supply chain team, but I thought I'd share some thoughts around the topic. I understand how frustrating the situation is, and how difficult it is to manage expectations, plan and achieve the deadlines of certain projects. Stock levels are currently very fluid, as we distribute the available production, which I need to remind you is heavily impacted by the global and industry-wide chip shortages and a pandemic that has not yet subsided fully, across all the regions to fulfill as many orders as possible in as little time as possible. There's a lot of complexity behind the supply chain, that includes not only the production challenges, but also import and export ones; at times these are beyond our control and that can cause variations on due dates.  I would continue to encourage you to stay closely in touch with our Sales team, who are closely informed about the evolving situation and can offer alternatives, where possible. Your success, is our success, and we are therefore all extremely keen to ensure all of the orders are fulfilled as quickly as possible.    Once again, I completely empathise with the challenges everyone is facing and I would also take advantage to encourage everyone to remain respectful of each other in these Community spaces.   Many thanks. The page (now) includes the Z3C if you select Teleworker, but the page seems broken in several other ways. One, the list does not scroll - the page https://meraki.cisco.com/product-catalog/security-and-sd-wan-mx says "All items (27)", but only 9 are listed.   I can use the sub-categories and sort order to find what I want - awkward, but it works. Then when I click "Add to estimate", I get a popup to select licensing: You can see it wants me to click a drop-down to pick an option. But the drop-down has no options: If I click "Add to estimate", I get a response that I have to pick something: I get a similar response with the other license options. None of them have any contents in the drop-down. And I find the same situation in Firefox, Chrome, and Edge, with my popup blocker disabled, and whether or no I'm logged in.   Oh, while my interest is in the MX105, the Z3C does the same thing:   ... The windows VPN method is plagued with constant problems. Just when you think you have it right, Microsoft changes something or an update resets your settings and breaks it. as @cwal21 mentions Anyconnect is now available for Meraki, switch to that. You have many more options for managing the VPN well, and most people are familiar with anyconnect from a user standpoint. Update the code on your MX's and give it a try, if you don't have a ton of users the anyconnect licensing isn't too bad price wise. ... View more

Hey so not sure why 10101010 could not share, but I just recreated this for my own use - a PowerShell script that loops, checking public IPs, and making a dashboard call to update the 3rd Party VPN peer when need be. I myself use this on a host that is sitting behind a dynamic IP, since Meraki does not seem to implement IPSec's 'Remote ID' properly.   Oh, I also did this with v1 API instead of v0. Just add in your Org ID, API Key, and ensure the user for that API key has full rights. Maybe change the VPN endpoint name too. All variables tagged with ###, and it's in PowerShell but should not be hard to convert to any other lang.     [Net.ServicePointManager]::SecurityProtocol = [Net.SecurityProtocolType]::Tls12 $url = "https://api.meraki.com/api/v1/organizations/###/appliance/vpn/thirdPartyVPNPeers" $header = @{ "Content-Type" = "application/json" "Accept" = "application/json" "X-Cisco-Meraki-API-Key" = "###" } $LastPublicIP = (Invoke-WebRequest ipecho.net/plain).content.trim() Write-Host "Starting IP is" $LastPublicIP $LastPublicIP = "0.0.0.0" # This causes an update to always run immediately Do { $CurrentPublicIP = (Invoke-WebRequest ipecho.net/plain).content.trim() if ($LastPublicIP -ne $CurrentPublicIP){ Write-Host "Found IP Change. Last IP was" $LastPublicIP "and new IP is" $CurrentPublicIP ". Updating VPN settings via API!" $LastPublicIP = $CurrentPublicIP $Peers = ConvertFrom-Json -InputObject (Invoke-WebRequest -Method Get -Uri $url -Headers $header) $Peers.peers | ForEach-Object { if($_.name -eq "###") { $_.publicIp = $CurrentPublicIP } } $resposne = Invoke-RestMethod -Method Put -Uri $url -Body (ConvertTo-Json -InputObject $Peers -Depth 5) -Headers $header } Start-Sleep -Seconds 5 ### Update to your desired loop time } While($true)     You could actually compare the publicIp property from a GET and only do the PUT if it changes, but I did not want to do endless API GET calls due to Meraki rate limiting, lag, etc, so I just use a public IP service.   Enjoy folks! ... if you can nslookup the server by specifying your dns server(nslookup DestIPaddress DNSIPaddress) ,then this is the solution that works best for me:   https://www.reddit.com/r/meraki/comments/arkviy/client_vpn_and_local_dns/ We had this problem with some Win10 clients, and the only workaround we've found so far is to statically set the Interface Metric value on the VPN adapter to a lower number than the local adapter, so that it uses the DNS server set on the VPN interface for name lookups. If there's a better way to handle this, I'd love to hear it.   This is under the vpn adapter networking IPV4 properties advanced options. Turn off IPV6 there as well. ... View more
