@jared_f - if you use the Tags management page to set a Security Policy, you should be able to set a policy that is device type specific (iOS only), to avoid your macos devices hitting it. Does that work?

The only reason VPNs are a concern for us and such a big deal is because all traffic runs through sonic wall at HQ. Adding another VPN connection is a big security concern. It has never been a problem with computers, but I guess iPads are much easier to install VPNs. In addition, security policies are great for this because they trigger both an email configuration and a restriction profile to restrict.

While this is a great feature, students still have the ability to turn off Bluetooth for 24 hours through the control center which is frustrating. I have already opened a case with Apple to get that fixed in the future, as I don't want to take away to Control Center just to stop Bluetooth changes.

Love the new tag page, I had a lot of test/demo cruft that was getting in the way. The ability to edit existing tags is awesome as well.

When you start a new topic in this forum now it is not particular obvious that you must select a label. For example, I just did a post, and got back this error. Then I remembered that labels are now compulsory. I suspect other people posting in this forum who don't do this wont be able to figure out why their post is being rejected.

@PhilipDAth - that's right, dashboard will not let you copy profiles between dashboard ORGs, but you can between different networks in a single org. (I wish we had this! I submitted this request.) It sounds like in this case @Jacko is looking to copy profiles between networks (in one org) and not between orgs.

@BlakeRichardson - The Chrome OS Enterprise team at Google was the first to make these native tools available to third party vendors 😉 We'd love to extend this to education customers when possible!

@cKoppen - There could be a few things going on here - I'd recommend opening a support case to be sure! Is it possible you have a restriction set to "Disallow sharing of managed documents with AirDrop (iOS 9+)"? That could be causing it...but support should be able to get a better idea of what's going on!

I use the White-list feature in settings ,, so like the news,Imovies all those stock apps are not on there , with my settings we only allow meraki Sm and 2 other apps so i have those whitelisted and few others like Settings,notes,tips, and other basic ones , it also helps to use the restrictions under general , and use a separate pass code that the end user does not know also the WEATHER that comes with the ipad will use data in the background

Also - Group Policies on Meraki wifi networks can also be used to block or throttle bandwidth for OS updates! Under Network Wide>Group Policies: Devices in Systems Manager can automatically be put on Group Policies using the Sentry Policies integration, here:

I will definitely take a look! In regards to the WiFi profile, I agree - I usually push profiles separately to devices and don't combine them into a "mega" like profile. This always makes it easier to exclude a device from the scope. The only way (easily) I could think of fixing that problem where the WiFi profile comes after is to push them as a pair inside one profile. The other option would be to use a policy that sees if the Systems Manager app is installed and then trigger it to install when the device is compliant with that (the systems manager app always deploys after the profiles).

@discoveranother For your second question - it sounds like you are referring to the Restrictions on the Settings page. Is that right? Under "Cross Platform Restrictions", deselecting "Allow installing apps" will turn off the user's and SM's ability to install applications. The more popular option would be to use the restriction under "ios restrictions (supervised)" to deselect "Allow App Store". This works for supervised devices on ios 9 and above and will still allow you to push apps and updates through SM 🙂
