I've never actively used the Windows Store version, but heard one of my customers telling me about that this is a more or less "crippled down" version of Secure Client. Have you tried using the regular version from the Cisco Download site? Just to make sure that it's not related to the source.

If you're in for the SOHO / advanced home use case, you might probably be "better off" with Ubiquity or Mikrotik. As soon as you start to realize that there's an enterprise market out there, you definitely will run away from those as fast as you even can. 😉 And this is where the money lies.

NetFlow to the rescue! I know it's only a workaround, but MX is able to export NetFlow and you could have (even Open Source) systems that will do that job just perfectly for you.

Firewall logging is (currently) not a real deal-breaker for Meraki MX, just as you realized. The new firmware will enable you to have live logging directly integrated into the Dashboard though. As for now, I've see a few possibilities to have a decent firewall event logging in place: syslog-ng (with filters) -> no additional cost but needs to be configured properly Graylog (which makes it easy to get to the results) Splunk (even the free version is suitable for many and has "apps" ready for Meraki devices)

The DHCP server is working completely local, so you don't need an internet access for it. Also the file server will be accessible on the internal network. At least I hope to understand the question correctly.

What kind of authentication are you using. It sounds like username / password?! Which RADIUS server are you using?

Correct. You have a device within that Alan that is using an APIPA address (possibly because it hasn't received an IP via DHCP). As the MX doesn't have an address within this range, you're receiving these messages.

I've used a lot of stuff from plain ol' syslog-ng up to Graylog or Splunk. Especially for the MX side of things, syslog really helps to find needles in haystacks.
