I have the same issue with two iPads that I enrolled today, assigned by is showing as -1. I am also having an issue that when I enroll a device it takes 15-20 minutes to appear in the device list.

If the user has clicked on a link anything could have happened, the issue is user security awareness and not your external IP being at risk unless you have a bunch of insecure port forwards setup. Platforms like Knowbe4 offer end user cyber security training. Be aware that most breaches are a result of human error.

The config is stored in the cloud so if the unit did have an issue a factory reset would get you up and running again. The only thing you will lose with unplugging the device would be any logs that haven't uploaded to the dashboard.

Sorry this is a bit of a read. I am not sure about systems manager for MacOS devices as I use it for iOS devices. I use Jamf to manage my MacOS devices. In saying that I had a user last year migrate their user account and system settings onto a personal device and that device was suddenly showing in my Jamf instance, I am assuming the same would happen with systems manager. Unlike a true ADE enrolment though I was able to manually remove the MDM profile from that device. Also bear in mind with systems manager that you can only enrol up to the number of licenses you have, there is no grace period so you would need to have spare licenses if you plan on the old and new hardware running in parallel for a brief period. A grace period on SM licenses is something I have asked for as replacing devices such as iPads it's nice to have them configured before removing to old units which means running devices in parallel for a short time.

Since the UI update managing a devices tags is not as streamlined as it use to be. For example when I use a remove a tag from a device only the tags that were assigned to the device would show in the list, now all of the tags show meaning you have to search for tag you want to remove. Also the drop down menu covers the save button which means clicking out of the drop down menu to click the save button. I know it's only an extra click but I'm just highlighting that it's not as efficient as it use to be.

What version of SonicOS are you running? I have setup S2S with Meraki and Sonicwalls in the past without any issue.

You could add a web clip to the home screen which is essentially an alias to a webpage, that webpage could be a private Youtube video. If you have a video file i.e. mp4 that you want to put on the devices then the backpack might work but I have never used it so can't say for certain.

I thought that might be the case. Usually as soon as I read the word subscription based of past experience it means its going to be more expensive. As long as Meraki don't move to a subscription only model like Broadcomm or Paessler.

Do the radius logs show anything, is the device connecting and then timing out after 5 mins and the connection is collapsing?

For security reasons I would always have an implicit deny rule, as mentioned inbound is enabled by default but I would be adding an outbound rule as well.

In my experience with wifi based IOT especially if they come from a website like Aliexpress or Temu the wireless chipsets aren't that great and the devices need to be close to the access point they are connecting to. A lot of IOT is still only 2.4Ghz as the chipsets are much cheaper, Some Ring door bells for instance only support 2.4Ghz and because that spectrum gets a lot of interference this is more likely the problem than the access point itself.

I would raise a support ticket ( I know you have already done so) but raise it as being a longterm issue and a problem that needs a resolution. I am assuming you're an MSP.

If it's happening at the same time it sounds like something is timing out. I would start by talking to support. When you say the stack goes offline is it losing connectivity to the dashboard? Re firmware updates why not schedule for the middle of the night or is that not possible?

Was more thinking if Wifi is still active then device is more likely to continue background tasks including things like photo syncing which do make devices warm.

I don't think this is something that can be adjusted as it would affect battery life but also could mean that if the device is put inside a backpack and it's still transmitting at normal rates it could get hot and become a fire hazard.

I am seeing odd things with SM clients as well in what looks like the devices page is stuck with some form of cached version.
