What firmware are you running on your MX67C ?

I was happy to get rid of any Wireless-Controllers when going from Cisco Classic accesspoints with WLAN-Controller to Meraki accesspoints without controller, and now I will will never change back to a WLAN-controller. Never.

FRA will look at the calculated -67 dBm boundary between all 2.4 GHz interfaces. It evaluates cell overlap to identify redundant interfaces ( not needed). FRA uses neighbor RSSI to evaluate the cell size. In normal carpeted office space with normal ceiling height (8-10 feet) this works pretty well at reducing the number of 2.4 GHz interfaces and eliminating the over saturation of 2.4GHz that normally exists. In high ceiling or lower density deployments ( large public venue, warehousing - ceilings 25 feet or over) the neighbors will be heard at the ceiling between one another and not hear the return RSSI from the floor as well. That can produce un desirable results. If the interface is an XOR (2.4 and 5) it can be converted to a serve 5 GHz radio. FRA can also disable or place in monitor mode any band-locked 2.4 GHz radio to balance the coverage.

@r2kat yes that's right, it will show the latest firmware that you have chosen, but will actually be running the linked legacy firmware (currently 30.7.1).

I just got back from Las Vegas today and I heard more than 8 foreign languages other than English being spoken by the tourists there the last couple of days, so I would disagree that the US is not a safe country for foreign visitors. As long as you enter the country legally, I don't think their is anything to worry about 😉

This looks awesome! I hope it is usable for client VPN as well. The only other thing that could make it even better is if it supported either adding DHCP hosts to the local zone or DNS registration (allowing machines to self-register in DNS). That would allow VPN clients to talk to internal hosts by DNS name. This would be great for small companies that don't have Active Directory, and rely on broadcast name resolution systems when on WiFi or LAN to find servers, NASes, IoT devices, etc.

We have the same issue with 30.7.1. Oddly, it impacts indiscriminately Android and iPhone based off the logs. Issue appeared when the software was upgraded. Are there regression defects known in this release?

Is there a way to allow template access to users? Where a user can add/remove or move a network between templates?

If only SecurePort was supported on MS120 family , that would solve your issue.

It was a pleasure to help you. Guys, just to let you know that I was helping @mcoomber closely, one of the things that was missing was to create VLAN 30 on a 3850 switch that was between the MX and the MS. In addition, not all APs had the switch port configured for trunk, which was also causing the problem (this was confirmed by Meraki). So in short, it wasn't just about allowing VLAN 30 in the SSID and configuring trunk on the ports, it was still necessary to configure the VLAN on the Catalyst switch.

Also, I see the MX WAN interface resolving DNS when it is connected to the Internet, but not associated to a template/has no network config.

@NolanHerring We moved to 31.1.7 a week ago, 500+ AP's, MR33/36/44's - all seems OK so far

@RaphaelL Yes the painfully slow loading is getting very old. The fact you cant disable it under early access makes it worse, either give me the option to turn it off or disable the old version.

Yeah between all the different types of power events and what the end users describe, it's likely what we are being told are power outages may not directly affect the devices I'm checking. UPS kept things up, partial outage, etc. I guess what I would say to OP given that is if the Meraki says it lost power it did, but if it doesn't it's doesn't mean there wasn't some sort of utility event. May or may not matter with what you are trying to monitor or correlate.

For info Meraki support has said the Fw isnt forwarding SIP traffic to the internet so I am to update the firmware. I had assumed Meraki auto updated everything, that being one of the benefits but when I went into the firmware update section i could see there's updates to do including the MX

I made the assessment that the overhead of managing specific firewall rules for Teams Room setups was really not worth the effort, so I just stuck them on an internet only network with very lax rules. May not be the best idea but was enough for my scenarios.
