MR 32.1.6 - Fixes for random 100Mbps

mportant note

  • MR45/55 APs are not supported on MR 32.x.x and will instead upgrade to the backup version (MR 31.1.8) if they are in networks configured for MR 32.x.x versions, and thus, new features will not be available.

Enhancement

Bug fixes

  • General stability, performance, and experience improvements
  • APs not using configured SGT tag (Wi-Fi 6, 6e, Wi-Fi 7)
  • RADSec authentication stuck (Wi-Fi 6, 6e, Wi-Fi 7)
  • Wi-Fi calling not working (Wi-Fi 6, 6e, Wi-Fi 7)

This is a behavior that has been discussed for a while here and never acknowledged in any firmware.

I can't wait to fix this issue 😇

One would think that this 100mbps issue would be looked into with more urgency because it has been going on for so long. We manage 5500+ Meraki AP's (MR46's and 9164's), and see this on a regular basis - mostly with the MR46's. Sometimes it is a cabling/keystone/switchport issue, but we have troubleshot this issue enough times to recognize when it is an AP problem. I can't wait for the fix either......

Have you tried the firmware yet ? We are still rolling this one out. We have about the same amount of APs.

Yes. The AP was upgraded from 31.1.7 => 32.1.6 with no changes in connection speed. I'm going to RMA it. We have several other MR46's that have been swapped out for this same problem, so we'll probably connect each one of these and upgrade the firmware to the latest version to see what happens. If the firmware fixes some of them, we'll redeploy and check for stability.

Does this indicate a bug 32.1.5 as we are just about to upgrade to this version of code to fix the channel selection issue

The 100Mbps has been there for ages. I think since MR 28.

Getting noticed

APs previously on 1 Gbps suddenly negotiating at 100mbps after a few hours (Wi-Fi 6, 6e)

I've seen this on non Wi-Fi 6 AP's... that can't get this firmware 😡

We recently (a couple of days ago) upgraded our production APs (mixture of MR46's and 9164's) from 31.1.7 to 32.1.6.  Over 5500 APs. Upgrade was transparent to the end users as we haven't received any reports/tickets about problems with connectivity (nothing above the usual). However, there was no change in the number of 100Mbps connected AP's, but those could be non-firmware related problems.

We have the same amount of APs to upgrade this month to upgrade , I will post our results. I would expect atleast a few to be fixed but we have for sure some cabling issues.

New here

Hey @Trepptronics, we upgraded over 1200 MR46s and have a small number of them that refuse to broadcast their SSIDs until rebooted. 5GHz always shows 100% utilization. Same symptoms across multiple sites. I'm just curious if you are also seeing this? I sorted the APs by number of connected clients and found the ones with no clients that I knew should have clients connected.
