Long allowed Vlan statements (over ~39 characters) has now been fixed, but the maximum character limit is still ~240. Please also note if your device is not upgrading and stuck at saying 'Not running configured version', make sure that the 'Local device status pages' (Under Network>General Device Configuration) is enabled. I was advised on this by Meraki, good spot to the engineer who figured that one out.

My TAC case, the engineer gave a template about acknowledging my escalation and I did not see a Manager own it up. (signs of an ailing hierarchy) However, this community is good, Rodrigo responded promptly and help through. Thanks Meraki Community!.

Hi, the same thing happened to me with my AWS environment. We had to restart the machine to bring the tunnels back up. Is there any known solution to this problem?

You should be able to set up the users with access to certain cameras and/or feeds, so that they can log in and access the Vision Portal and leave it up. I know this is 4+ years after you posted this, and you may already know this, but there was some problem that was just resolved in ver. 1.22.1 of the Vision Portal that was either still a problem causing idle timeouts, or had been previously fixed, then returned as problem -- https://documentation.meraki.com/MV/Viewing_Video/Meraki_Vision_Portal_Changelog

May want to try looking into this again. I recently noticed that many of my Amazon Echos which were previously showing up as XBOX are now showing up as Amazon Technologies. I noticed a number of other random devices much easier to identify as well.

@MRCUR Tech Support sent me these instructions that fixed the issue for my particular setup (7/26/24) and it DID fix the issue: Thank you for contacting Meraki Technical Support! Can you temporarily enable the WAN3 Backup feature, modify the WAN 1 bandwidth settings, and then disable the WAN 3 backup feature, and then try modifying the WAN 1 configuration again just to ensure the WAN 3 backup feature is no longer being referenced? Keep in mind, when temporarily enabling the WAN 3 backup feature, the physical port usage will change to the following: On the MX85, MX95 & MX105 - The Fourth physical port is the designated backup port. Physical ports 1 & 2 become designated WAN 1 and WAN 2 ports. I am glad to have it resolved and apologize for not posting this sooner - my struggles are real.

Blocking WhatsApp usage in an office setting can be approached in a few ways: Network Level Blocking: IT administrators can block access to WhatsApp by configuring the network firewall to restrict access to WhatsApp's servers. This approach effectively prevents any device connected to the office network from accessing WhatsApp. Mobile Device Management (MDM) Software: If employees are using company-provided devices, MDM software can be used to restrict or block the installation and usage of WhatsApp and other unauthorized apps. MDM solutions offer granular control over device settings and app permissions. Application Whitelisting/Blacklisting: IT administrators can implement application control policies to whitelist approved apps and blacklist prohibited ones. This can be done using endpoint security solutions or mobile device management platforms. Educational Measures: Informing employees about the reasons behind the decision to block WhatsApp and promoting alternative communication channels for work-related communication can help in gaining their cooperation and understanding. Policy Enforcement: Clearly define and communicate company policies regarding app usage and enforce consequences for violating these policies. This can include disciplinary actions for employees found using prohibited apps during work hours. Monitoring and Reporting: Implementing monitoring solutions that track app usage can help identify instances of WhatsApp usage and enforce policy compliance.

Our organization license is good for 3 more years. Bought a new device & license. The device got claimed, but the license wasn't applied some how. SAML org admin's don't get email notifications for non compliance licenses. We were on with tech support the week before for an hour with no mention that there was a device out of compliance. This is an absolutely terrible business practice and I doubt it will change based on what any of the customers say.

The Palo is too complex for us. But yeah, I do need basic features and I'm finding out the MX is missing them.

We had Meraki for 3 years and switched to FortiNet, and we still have home offices on Meraki. There is a learning curve as those things are 10x more capable and feature rich, but also more complex. They do have cloud mnagement as well, but if a device comes with gig ports, it's pushing gig. I've been pushing ~300 clients through 2x 1gig uplinks with a FortiGate 60F (~$1000) without any problems.

Hello, I am new to networking and dealing with fiber. I got nervous when I saw mention of upstream fiber. If I have multimode fiber as my uplink at a MS250 switch and have a couple of multimode fibers on SFP ports coming out of it, but I want to add one single mode on another one am I going to run into problems? I have a scenario where I have some good distance to another building and I had requested single mode be pulled.

+1 ! We would probably pay a premium over APC to have network managed PDUs in our dashboard. Every job I've ever had required some critical device to be power cycled occasionally. Having it in the dashboard would allow role based access.

What about when there is no internal DNS? What about if it is a non-Windows environment? What about devices that can't register in internal DNS (printers, cameras, scanners, etc)?

SAML support is available, but you need to call Meraki support to have them enable it for the client VPN. That allows you to Auth straight to Duo, Okta, AzureAD, etc, without the RADIUS server. https://documentation.meraki.com/MX/Client_VPN/AnyConnect_on_the_MX_Appliance/Authentication I'm still not sure of what kind of policy control you'd be able to apply, though.

I agree. If we had required faster uplinks, we would have replaced the Meraki's with another firewall. Fortunately we don't need the extra bandwidth, so it doesn't matter for our use case. But the companies that make their own chips are able to offload some CPU intensive things to ASIC chips. That is the way that all manufacturers should be headed and hopefully Cisco will instead of trying to cram everything into an intel system on a chip. Hardware $ for $ Meraki is far from competitive. But the software is what makes us stick around. Too bad the software stack can't run on another large brand's hardware, then we could FortiMeraki or MerakiGate.... UnifiMeraki....
