Yeah, I'm on with support now. I backdoored my way in with an old ticket number. It does appear to be shard based as when I check here https://www.uptrends.com/tools/uptime N34 responds but N318 does not.

Is anyone else having issues getting to the Dashboard right now? We can get a login screen but nothing else seems to be working. I'd call it into Support but guess what the support page isn't loading at all for me to pull the information. We're on https://n318.meraki.com/

@MattMorg Thank you for letting me know. I have confirmed this morning that the SM app is currently installing correctly. Now if we could just get the Apple School Manager profile to work correctly that would be wonderful.

@CBOE Hopefully Meraki fixes whatever they've bungled quickly as it is horribly inconvenient to have the Meraki app not loading back onto iPads when your in the middle of a district wide refresh of iPads.

Just so everyone is aware, there appears to be an issue with pushing out the Meraki SM App through VPP/SM. @DialogDirect To do a complete reset you want to do the second option down. In German, it is Alle Inhalte & Einstellungen löschen. This will erase all content and trigger the iPad to process the DEP setup again.

@itmacroair That is 100% the case, it was the method for devices to check in was down and nothing more. You could open a support case to confirm, as well.

@itmacroair Usually issues like this where there is no true connectivity issue, which this is what this sounds like, are caused by an issue on Meraki's cloud dashboard not being available for some reason so the devices "fail" to check in which triggers the alerts. Everything still functions but you receive messages of things being down erroneously.

@DialogDirect Yes, once you remove the iPad from the Network it isn't bricked per se but you will need to either re-enroll it back into Meraki or reset the device for Meraki to have control over it again. I too use the "Delete/Remove from Network" option to free up licenses as when the device is reset it pops back into Meraki as it is still DEP registered. My rule of thumb is that if it's not checked into my Stolen Missing Network in 6 months to a year I don't expect it to unless it gets reset so I'd much rather have the license back and have to reset the iPad if it shows back up.

@BlakeRichardson and @techrc I suspect these devices are not managed through Apple School/Business Manager and therefore likely not completely DEP enrolled so that could affect some setting that are available to be applied to the iPads. Also, depending on which version of Meraki @techrc is using that could also be a limitation on what can be managed on the iPads. Are you using the Free or Paid for version of Meraki? As a new user of Meraki I would definitely take a look at the documentation here as it will help get you up to speed. https://documentation.meraki.com/SM/Device_Enrollment

I called Meraki support and after about an hour we came to the conclusion that it appears to be an issue with the Apple App store not receiving the information correctly from Meraki to allow the push to be completed. Meraki customer support advised either waiting to see if it clears up or reaching out to Apple Support, neither are great options but that's what I was told by support.

@kanoga88 Unfortunately when it comes to Location Services related items, Apple has been pretty hesitant to give us any control over them through restrictions or settings under the guise of user privacy, which I understand. I would much rather be able to turn on location services to all of my iPads in the school district and make sure Meraki's App is granted access to location services rather than relying on students to enable this but unfortunately that request has never happen from Apple and I suspect never will.

@Koops This profile is automatically pushed out by Meraki when a device is managed in Meraki. The no indication is that it is not a profile that is manageable in the dashboard. I see the same profile on all of my iPads as well.

@MilanVuletic I believe as there is no dashboard activity the answer is no, especially with the restriction in place to not allow profile removal. I would suggest opening a case with support just to confirm this suspicion though.

@tpeterson79 You may want to try these iPads that are having issues. Last week when troubleshooting with Meraki one of the suggested work arounds was to repush the app. This did not work last week but did work today.

Yeah it threw me for a loop at first as well. When you update to 14.5 the app still works but once it's a reset iPad running 14.5 the app doesn't work.

@Inderdeep @tpeterson79's timeframe is exactly when we saw this issue start popping up here, so I suspect it's the same issue we are seeing.The app on the device is erroneously reporting it's not enrolled but you can still manage it through the dashboard just fine.

So it appears that the Meraki MDM app is busted on iOS 14.5. I got a report of this from one of my schools and did some digging. The app appears to function to when updating the iPad to iOS 14.5 but after resetting the MDM app throws error saying the iPad is not enrolled in an SM network and that it is unable to determine if the device is compliant. I contacted support and this is a known issue with an updated version of the App submitted to Apple and waiting approval.

@Sofology_Ash, Are these iPads that have passcodes on them? If so, the only time a profile can be updated is when an iPad is unlocked. Basically these iPad need to be unlocked and then the profile update "should" occur. I believe this is an Apple limitation that I thought was going to be resolved in an iOS update at some point.
