I’m having strange things as well one thing I have noticed is a gx50 firmware change. 18-1-07 vs 17.10.2. No details anywhere on when and what it does and what it’s breaking.

Anyone have release notes and history of gx50 firmware 18-1-07? not sure when they went from 17.10.2 to 18.1.07, but, something in noticed recently which I didn’t notice before…the occasional appearance of IP6 IP addresses on my network devices. I say occadional since if I start rebooting things…I may or may not get ip6 addresses vs ip5 addresses. it would be. Ice if these updates were on a schedule and we had release notes. An email notice in advance would be world class.

Also if a lot of users with a lot of local video and local file sharing activity , you might want to consider a gs-110 switch. putting extensive local video and local file sharing activity on a switch , with one connection to your gx device would keep local video and file sharing activity out of the management of the gx device since the peer to peer on your local network would be handled by the switch.

In your described setup..I am assuming your “router “ is either a gx50 of gx20 the security subscription is for 1 security device on the account, which topically serves the whole wireless/wired network.

Can the security prescription be used on two networks and what are limitations? examples gx50 one floor same location isp A and gx20 fame location isp b , different floor , managed by same Meraki go acct or same Meraki go acct , with 1 security subscription gx50 location a , isp a, network a M gx20 location b, isp b, network b Ot Different Meraki go acct , gx50 location a , isp a, network a gx20 location b, isp b, network b Or how else can we use a gx50 and gx20 together? thanks

Also the meshed repeaters have a bandwidth cost penalty ….the repeaters only allow 50% of the bandwidth that the wire AP’s have (assuming 1 hop).

I had 2 gr10’s wired initially i installed 2 gr 12’s wired and moved the 2 gr10’s out to the perimeter as meshed repeaters. Two networks are being broadcasted, 1 for low speed utility devices such as cameras, printers, air conditioners, door bells, etc, and the other for high speed use such as laptops, cell phones, midea streaming, etc. you can run network topography to confirm the APs are running the way you planned. also, there seems to be some tweaking with orientation interns of how they face horizontally or vertically and what is in line of sight to the AP’s. It sure what the optimal arrangement is just letting you know what I did.

Yes, there are a lot of strange unexplained metrics. the voice latrncy is one…sometimes it shows a lot of red light n the dial during times when no one is using voice.

Is there anything useful that can be done with this ? for example…can you setup a rule to allow all wan outbound internet traffic to go out a specified physical port other than your default internet port?

Definitely need some type of box. But performance may suffer and you would probally wind up with double natting right now, my fail over is on the client side ….a wireless network config is set up of each wan and when one wan goes down the clients switch over automatically to the other only works with smart operating systems and does not work with appliances.

Finally got around to trying this my gx50 (firmware 17.10) didn’t like this once to wan links were setup , it would not reboot. Stays orange light. had to restore to defaults with a pin to get it to behave. so back to 1 wan link. I guess we need a dual want box in front of these devices. any recommendations?

as part of the ticket everything was forced updated to current levels on the back end. no other changes were made nothing was deleted, re-added, restored to defaults, etc. what ever the problem was it was resolved with the firmware upgrades. everything runs better than before ,

I opened a support ticket so at least there will be some metrics for gr12 ‘s not updating. It usually takes a few weeks to get a response so it may be a while before I post an update. .

So I push pinned the reset quickly…the gr12’s rebooted and no change in firmware…they are still at 28.7.1, these (2) are hard wired to the switch. my 2 gr10’s are at 28.6.1, these two are meshed repeaters. the gr12’s have a 100+ millisecond latency when using the test connection icon. This is not expected since they are hard wired using cat6 cables to 1gb ports and ports have been switched to forced gb. the gr10’s which are meshed repeater's show a 40+ millisecond latency. They repeat from gr12’s. Don’t know if the gr10 40 millisecond latency will improve if the gr12 100+ millisecond latency improves. Not loving the idea that a restore to Details reset is needed to get the firmware to 29.x.x so if I don’t do a restore to defaults, the gr12’s will both be stuck at 28.x.x no update now option in software and no check for software updates.

There is definitely some spooky bananas going on. my wifi 5 and wifi 6 APs have been on auto updates since day one. my wifi 6 AP’s are not at the firmware level you posted….there’s no way of forcing and update to 29.x.x so mosning is not the problem. paid good money for significant hardware which should perform at a predictable level. I should not have to delete devices in the org and read them. Just to trick the hardware into doing current updates. so my wifi 6 devices are at 28.x.x and should be at 29.x.x . Is this going to fix itself or am I going to have to play herky jerky , slippery slope, when ever there is a new firmware upgrade? I have a 2gb isp connection and have the security prescription… what else do I need to do to make this a hands off system. moaning over.

Anyone else having a problem with the Meraki go devices going bookers in the last few days? I had to switch over to my backup wifi connector toon and take everything off the Meraki go devices. Don’t know if there was some update or something that let all the gremlins in. my equipment is fios fiber 2gb meraki go gx50 fw neraki go 8 port switch 2 Meraki go wifi 6 AP’s and 2 Meraki go wifi 5 AP’s. my backup network is a T-Mobile internet gateway which I pay 30 bucks a month for and is only 200mb the T-Mobile gateway never goes down. in getting annoyed with the non transparency with this Meraki go equipment. Meraki should post a notice or something on their announcements page when they do updates that clobber user services. phooey on all the money I spent on this gear .

For the 2 conditions you laid out. a . network of 192.168.0.x b. A subnet of 192.168.18.1 as the default gateway. you can try a subnet mask of 255.255.128.0 that will give you a network with a range of 192.168.0.1 thru 192.168.127.245 both of your conditions would be within that range and this would be 1 network.
