@Zilla   Thanks for your suggestions.   I now have the VLANs configured pretty well the way I want them to work.   My next issues are to do with isolating "risky" devices into their own VLAN yet still be able to access their services, eg Bonjour or Chromecast.   Virtually all the "smart" devices I have seen are woeful from a security viewpoint, so should be kept away from the rest of the network, yet some are quite convenient. Whether it is at home or work, I cannot see us having fewer smart devices in the future. So we have to be able to find a way of being able to live with them, securely.   ... View more

As per the above articles, if VLANs are configured on the MX and no firewalls are in place, Inter-VLAN communication will be available.   All that i can see you requiring would be routes from your controller to the MX and from the MX to the controller. ... View more

Update: I contacted support and after 2 1/2 hours they determined the device was faulty. Meraki shipped a new device overnight with an RMA label. I made a test network and added the new device to that network. With the new device, I connected it as DHCP to a Verizon router. It was able to reach the Meraki cloud and update firmware and it's config. I then installed the device in the rack. Through the local status page I configured the uplink static ip address. It connected to the Meraki cloud just fine. This device is the spare in a HA pair, so I then removed it from the test network and added it to the correct network. At this time the new device wouldn't connect to the Meraki cloud so I power cycled the device. BOOM, both were connected to the cloud but both were the Master because I did not connect them to the LAN yet. After connecting to the LAN my primary was the Master and the second device was the spare. Hope this helps someone.  ... View more

Hi,   I implement Syslog server Kiwi on Windows Server. After I added syslog server in Meraki, I found syslog start running in the Kiwi syslog monitor.   But I found that Meraki have no log anymore since I enable the syslog server.   If it's correctly by designed, do I need to see report at the Kiwi syslog server instead?   If yes, how to see the report?   Thank you very much. @tnight   Wow! Thanks so much for the recognition. Meraki has truly transformed our business from an IT perspective. The WiFi we had in place before I came on-board was your typical terrible hotel WiFi - slow, awful signal, bounced every few minutes. Not the type of service you want when offering $500 a night suites. With Meraki, gone are the days of "rebooting the modem" to get a few more people on. 2,000 concurrent connections? Have you guys figured this out?   We have a very similar scenario at our site.   We currently have MPLS connecting 6 locations. Routing is done by our ISP.    We are moving away from MPLS and recently starting to implement Metro-E at our locations. Each location has a designated cheap uplink. Currently I am using each location's core L3 switch to do failover routing for both MPLS/Metro-E and uplink ( I wanted it to use MX auto-vpn if MPLS/Metro-E goes down and if local uplink goes down, send default route to MPLS/Metro-E). Ultimately I want to move all these routes to MX, so I only need to manage local L3 routing on Core switch.   I attempted to setup this configuration, https://documentation.meraki.com/MX-Z/Site-to-site_VPN/Configuring_Site-to-site_VPN_over_MPLS, on our sites, but branch keeps forming autovpn over its own uplink instead of over Metro-E.   Did anyone figured this out?    By the way, the HQ has two uplinks and Metro-E connection. ...
