Bleeding edge switch there LOL. We had a few back in the day. That test pretty much confirms it is nothing on your end. I think we have two issues here in general. Last Friday, I had an MR56 "ethernet speed degraded" connected to an Aruba 6405 v2 chassis. The connectivity history just started to show periods of no connectivity and connected gateway. Did a cable test from switch and it passed even though statistics show a high amount of CRC errors. I went over to school and noticed the patch cable from biscuit box in ceiling to the AP was damaged/crimped. After replacing, there have been no issues this week. I do feel however that there are issues with firmware causing AP's to connect at 100 Mbps. I've had dozens of AP's (various models) trigger this alert. I'm running firmware 30.7 at each of my 12 buildings. I believe it started with the 30.x firmware. The problem is that the 30.x firmware fixes several issues we've seen related to our wifi 6 AP's which is why I haven't rolled back.

So I was mistaken... disable/enable PoE is a fix. We just had 7 AP's in low power mode from a power outage over the weekend. Also seeing random AP's with Ethernet Uplink Speed Degraded on a daily basis. A reboot fixes that issue. Annoying for sure.

I've seen this "low power mode" for a long time now. We have Aruba switches and I've tried various things on the switch end to try and resolve. The only fix I've had success with is physically unplugging cable from switch and plugging back in. Sounds dumb but it works every time (same port). Reboot AP doesn't fix, nor does disable/enable PoE. Really weird, on the switch end it has the correct power class and power utilization. For whatever reason, the dashboard claims low power mode. Glad its acknowledged by Meraki as a bug.

Sounds similar to our issue we've been having throughout the year. We first tried enabling QOS in SSID traffic shaping with default rules (which prioritize voice) per Meraki Support. That didn't work. The issue was our firewall (and typically is in most cases). We have a Fortigate and by default it has a UDP Flood protect enabled under IPv4 DoS Policy. We had to adjust the threshold to a much larger amount. No wifi calling issues after. The other issue which really can't be resolved is forcing wifi calling as a priority on the devices. On Android you can set priority, not on iPhone.

Also curious if you are seeing this just on MR44 or other model AP's?

Do you know if this "known issue" is model specific? All my networks are running 30.5 (mix MR33,42,53,56) and a few 30.6. To my knowledge haven't seen this issue yet.

Updated one of my elementary schools to 30.6 last night (mix of MR42 and MR56). Using an Mac M2 Pro laptop. I'm there twice a week so I'm familiar with expected wireless behavior. I've had flakiness in the past with my Mac and random roaming. Things were pretty stable with 30.5. This morning my Mac had some weird roaming issues along with associations at 2.4Ghz which hasn't ever happened before. Band steering and client balancing disabled. Using 1x for authentication. I'll be back Friday AM and test more, may roll back to 30.5.

I had a similar issue with a brand new out of box MR56. I was going crazy... tested cable run, used multiple ports in classroom and directly connected to switch. The AP would never become a gateway and always stuck in repeater mode. Swapped out AP with support and no problems with replacement.

So in my case I did a firmware update to one of my middle schools this week and all of a sudden two AP's negotiated at 100Mbit (they were full 1000Mbit before upgrade). I got same alerts via org - alerts about negotiation failure. All I did was do a cable test on Meraki Switch and they magically negotiated at 1000Mbit.

I think what happened is they added this new alert to alert hub. The issues with 100Mbps were probably already there. But yes, physically going to each AP is annoying. I really wish they had a remote factory reset option in dashboard. We have 600 AP's and only 8 had this issue. Don't think this is a firmware bug.

So last night I was messing with the remaining four AP's reporting 100Mbps. All I did was run a cable test on an MR56 and everything passed. Few seconds later the dashboard reported 1Gbps. I did nothing else. This is an AP that has been rebooted too. There are 3 AP's remaining in my environment and one appears to be cabling. I will factory reset the other two.

Just factory reset (3) MR56 AP's at my middle school all successfully negotiated at 1Gbps. Really wish you could factory reset remotely via GUI under tools. So far 4 out of 8 have been fixed with factory reset. I'll deal with the 4 next week.

What is your ticket number? My support tech just responded that he is "unaware of any known issues".

Thanks for update. I posted question to my ticket asking about the "known issue". Not cool since 29.x fixes many issues we were having.

Don't think so... I have 29.5.1 and 29.7 with various AP models.

So this is super weird. Went to my elementary school, took AP negotiating at 100Mbps down. Plugged into my Mac laptop and instantly got connected at 1Gbps. I grabbed a spare MR46 and plugged that in with same cable. It connected/negotiated at 1Gbps. Left MR46 in classroom. Took the MR56 down to my IT office and connected to port on desk (connected to different Meraki Switch) and negotiated at 100Mbps. Going to open case with Meraki as it seems in my first example here it is the AP not cabling. I have seven more AP's like this to diagnose. UPDATE - On phone with Meraki support and before doing an RMA we decided to do a factory reset on the AP. Sure enough, the AP remained stable and connected at 1Gbps after. I'll post updates with the other AP's accordingly.

In my case Auto for both... Cable tests pass on Meraki switch. Reporting 100Mbps, should be 1Gbps. I'm going to do more testing tomorrow.

I just saw 8 Access Points on my Alert Hub with same message. Various AP models along with both Aruba and Meraki switches. Tried forcing 1Gb Full Duplex (didn't work) on switch. I'm going to try and get to one of the buildings tomorrow. Upon looking at port history, seems like this ethernet negotiation has been an issue. Maybe this alert setting was just added to the Alert Hub? Not sure. Will post follow up tomorrow.

What makes no sense is 802.11v is enabled by default with firmware v29.x and all our buildings are on 29.x firmware (just different AP models). I'm seeing strange roaming behavior with iPhone's only on MR56 AP's. On a building with MR53's, I'm not. Right now I've been connected to the same MR53 AP in my office for 3 hours no roaming or issues. At the middle school with MR56 AP's my device will roam every few seconds. Same SSID and config. I'm looking at the client data in "Timeline".

We have have a mixed environment with MR33, MR42, MR46, MR53, and MR56 (just installed 150 of these over the summer). All buildings are running 29.5.1. Last night I updated our one Middle School which have (58) MR56 AP's to 29.7. Haven't gotten support involved yet. Some really strange issues that I've noticed with the MR56 and 29.5.1 which caused me to do the upgrade: We have a specific Samsung Chromebook touchscreen with Intel Wireless 7265 chipset rev 59. Our librarian uses it and said the wifi signal is poor (only thing that changed over summer was the model AP). We went from MR42 to MR56. I was able to see the signal on Chromebook constantly go from excellent to good to weak every few seconds... Took a newer HP Chromebook that students use and the signal was constantly excellent. There is a 10-15 db signal difference between the HP and the Samsung Chromebook. I have the exact same Samsung Chromebook in my bag and also had same issue. Tried various versions of ChromeOS too. No problems with Mac laptops on same desk. I also don't have the issue with the Samsung Chromebook when I go to my office in the High School (MR53 AP's). Another issue I'm seeing is constant roaming of clients (specifically iPhones). We don't have band steering or client balancing enabled. All buildings are configured the same. I was in the building last week and saw my iPhone roaming every few seconds to different AP's. Chromebooks, Windows devices, and Mac devices seem stable. I'm getting reports of poor wifi calling behavior (dropped calls) all using iPhones. I checked some client logs from the teachers with the problem and they are all exhibiting the same weird constant roaming like I had. I'm not seeing the constant roaming when I'm at my office in High School connected to MR53. Going back to the middle school on Thursday morning to do more testing.

Scratch that.... this morning just randomly roamed with fixed channel set. I give up, just going ethernet until I can test with M2. The disconnection reason in logs was "client not responding". My device had perfect connection and I was working normally.

Manually setting channel on AP resulted in perfect connectivity all AM. So the other thing I tried is initiating multiple channel changes while connected and the M1 didn't roam at all. Not really sure there is a difference when the AP automatically changes channel versus admin changing in UI? Going to see if the M2's have the same issues when they come in.
