@NolanHerring I also noticed that @ryu is using 80 MHz channels, what is your thinking on using those? I would think going to 40 would likely improve performance as well as there would be less channel hopping and more channels available for use.

@GabBlais Glad to hear it worked, I haven't played around with Shared iPad as we are a 1:1 school district. This makes me wonder if perhaps Apple Classroom on a Mac may now be working, as it was dependant on using the user profile push as well.

@ryu As @NolanHerring said, "I would also ask what firmware version are you running on the wireless access points" Firmware I have noticed is quite important when trying to troubleshoot disassociation issues. Also, this is quite important too, "Can you describe your physical environment and user environment?" Are you in a polluted 2.4 ghz area and you are fighting other wireless in the area?

@GabBlais Have you logged an account into the iPad? If so, I would reach out to Meraki support as once someone logs into the iPad the profile should be able to push.

@Joseph I see that Meraki is supporting user based profiles now. Have you tried setting up the Education Configuration through a user profile and see if it is now working for Apple Classroom on Macs?

@GabBlais Doing some research it appears web clips have to be pushed to the users, not the device. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/webclip I would try setting this up as a user profile push and see if it works for you.

@itguy80 I would expect you to have much better AP performance now, the firmware you were on was quite old and I know Meraki has made quite a few improvements since then.

@itguy80 We had MR34s behaving badly until we did the following upgrade: MR 26.5 → MR 26.6.1 Since then the MR34s have been solid since we went to 26.6.1. We used to have to restart them regularly until we went to 26.6.1 as the MR34 just stopped accepting connections.

@MSaxby I would suggest removing your network from the equation. IE, setup a test network, hotspot or home network, and see if you are able to get Apple Classroom working. This will at least help you isolate whether it is a networking or profile issue. It will also allow us to know which way to offer assistance in troubleshooting this with you.

@MSaxby I assume each student is assigned an iPad within Meraki as well. Do you have staff and students in the same network within Meraki?

@hd_IT Sometimes if you try adding the app using the VPP licenses to another network it will force an update of the license count and clear the "in use" licenses.

So the fix to getting this to work was to create a custom Apple profile through Apple Configurator 2. Once I added this line into the Global HTTP Proxy section under the Proxy PAC URL, Meraki was then able to insert the correct owner username into the string. https://www.securly.com/smart.pac?fid=xxxxxxxx@eaglepnt.k12.or.us&user=$OWNERUSERNAME@STU.EAGLEPNT.K12.OR.US

@trunolimit Here's a quick question I have for you. We're these older iPads purchased through somewhere besides Apple and are the newer iPads purchased through Apple? This sounds more like a DEP issue rather than a Meraki issue. Apple DEP guide

@randhall Is this the only device connected to the AP? Is the device connecting via 2.4 or 5? There are quite a few of other factors that could be contributing to performance like this. Did this behavior start occurring on the 26.6.1 release? Have you reached out to support on this as well?

@Alex69 All you should have to do is going to the owners list and from there click on the drop down for tags or click on the owner and make the necessary changes. Do remember to click save once you are done as well.

@toddalex Are you talking about the information on the VPP screen updating or the actual App? As these are two very different things. I haven't noticed any delay on when the App is actually released and when it is available to iPads, the Meraki MDM just makes a call to the App store to query what the latest version of the App is when updating/downloading.

@Seshu Support has given me an answer so far of that variables are supported in this method for setting up Proxy Pac files, which doesn't quite seem right as variables "should" be able to return data whenever they are called. I have also opened a case with Apple Enterprise support to see what they have to say on the matter. I would think if other MDMs can do this functionality then Meraki should be able to as well.

Has anyone tried doing this within Meraki? https://documentation.meraki.com/SM/Profiles_and_Settings/Variables_in_Custom_Apple_Profiles_with_Systems_Manager We are trying to get our Content Filtering solution to utilize the owner that is identified within Meraki to pass through so users do not need to authenticate. Here is the string we have built while working with Securly. https://www.securly.com/smart.pac?fid=xxxxxxxx@eaglepnt.k12.or.us&user=$OWNERUSERNAME@STU.EAGLEPNT.K12.OR.US However, when I look on the iPad I do not see the actual owner name is being pushed to the device. I do have an open case with support already, but it's gone to development for further research. I thought I would see if anyone has tried getting the variables to work like this as they work fine for this.
