Hi, I would like to subscribe to various groups on here, such as Community Announcements, so I get an email notification when a new post is created, but doing that means I also get an email notifying me of every comment/reply. Is there a way of subscribing to a group and only being notified of a new article rather than a new comment please? Best Martin

You might find it cheaper and with greater functionality to use a Meraki Marketplace partner for this: Cisco Meraki Marketplace | Cisco Meraki

Hi, Yep there is: Get Organization Devices Uplinks Loss And Latency - Meraki Dashboard API v1 - Cisco Meraki Developer Hub BTW if you run of time getting your script to work - there are lots of Meraki Ecosystem partners who will do this for you with a nice UI, take a look at: Cisco Meraki Marketplace | Cisco Meraki

Apologies for the thread hijack, but if you don't fancy running and maintaining your own script, there are plenty of ecosystem partners who can help with this: Cisco Meraki Marketplace | Cisco Meraki Declaring an interest, I work for one 🙂 Highlight Service Observability Platform for SD-WAN | Cisco Meraki Marketplace

Woops, we just realised the getOrganizationNetworks call allow a page of up to 100,000, default of 1000. That'll do!

Yes and that's the method we use today, but it's on an interactive element of our UI and on big orgs it takes over 30 seconds to get through all the pages of results. I was hoping there is a simple count somewhere as there is on the Global Overview table:

Hi, hopefully a fairly simple one this, but is anyone aware of a API call that will produce a simple count of networks under an Org please? We have some MSPs and customers with a very large number of networks, and for one particular function where we just want a quick count, we want to avoid paging through a very long list from getOrganizationNetworks. @PhilipDAth That's an interesting point of view. I would have thought the risk would be minimal as you need a valid API key don't you?

Hi, @alemabrahao, thanks for the reply. Sorry I don't understand. I'm not sure what the relevance of that thread is to my request? Could you explain please? Martin

Hi, We're preparing for the situation where quite soon we believe we're going to start hitting the 100 requests per IP API rate limit with some of our larger partners. When that happens, we're expecting to see a 429 and we'll handle that, but it would be very useful to have an additional header which told us if the 429 relates to the 10-per-Org limit, or the 100-per-IP limit. The reason this would be useful is we have additional mitigation options if the limit being exceeded is the per IP one. Best Martin

Very interested in this - there are a number of holes in the MGs API implementation, this would be a great addition.

Fantastic, getAdministeredIdentitiesMe is exactly what I'm looking for, thanks very much @John_on_API ! Just as a side point, is there a best practice guide on how managed services organisations should use accounts and generate API keys when integrating with 3rd party systems like Highlight? I ask because generating API keys on user accounts associated with individuals is dangerous because if that individual leaves the MSP, their account gets suspended and that kills the key (we've seen this happen several times). I'm guessing the right thing to do is have a key associated with a non-personal api@serviceprovider.com account where the credentials are carefully managed and not widely known, but where emails to api@serviceprovider.com do get delivered somewhere?

Hi, We deal with a lot of managed services providers, and a request we've had a few times now is to help an SP find out which Meraki user generated an API key so they can add that user to a new Org. Is anyone aware of an API call that can be made where the user that generated the key is returned please? Best Martin

Fantastic thanks very much for this @sungod - this aligns with the devices I have access to. What I've not seen yet is any 3G / HSDPA / HSUPA type connections. I know 3G is on its way out but we still see quite a lot of 3G connections in the UK/Europe on 4G capable devices.

Hi, Does anyone know of, or can point me towards a complete list of connectionType responses returned by /organizations/{organizationId}/cellularGateway/uplink/statuses please. Sadly the documentation only tells me it's a string, and the example includes "4g" as a response, when I see "lte" in the real world 🤷 Get Organization Cellular Gateway Uplink Statuses - Meraki Dashboard API v1 - Cisco Meraki Developer Hub There is also a "signalType" in the same call - my test devices give me 'null' for this, but the example shows "4G"? Thanks in advance Martin

Thanks guys, glad I'm not missing something and the feature would be useful for others as well. Ideally we'd want it as an Org wide call - ideally ideally it would be part of the same /organizations/:organizationId/appliance/uplinks/usage/byNetwork call which is currently in Beta. If that same org wide call could be made generic and return uplink usage for all device types that would be amazing! @John_on_API please!

Hi, I can't see any API endpoints that provide Cellular Gateway uplink traffic stats (or usage history). Am I missing something is that not in the dashboard API currently? It's a really important stat to track as network usage on a SIM needs to be correlated and reconciled with the bills being provided by the telco.. Best M.

Cool, there are other monitoring systems out there that have native Meraki API support - would be worth having a look at https://apps.meraki.io

The SNMP implementation on Meraki devices is very limited - AFAIK all the monitoring development effort is going into APIs and webhooks. I found this which might be interesting, but it does look like Prometheus has extremely limited integration with Meraki's dashboard APIs - https://github.com/TheHolm/meraki-dashboard-promethus-exporter

I can see what you mean, but to me it would seem a strange mix of an operational state and a configuration state? Maybe I'm a bit Cisco IOS old school in this regard, I like the world of admin up/down and operationally up/down

Hi, I'm seeing what I think is a bug, but one of my colleagues thinks is correct so I'm curious what the wider community thinks please? Given I have a MX device which has two connected WAN interfaces (1 and 2) and load balancing is disabled to prefer WAN 1 and I have a flow preference configured to prefer Internet traffic up WAN 2 When I look at the /organizations/:organizationId/appliance/uplink/statuses API endpoint Then I'm seeing WAN1 as 'active' but WAN2 as 'ready' My customer thinks this is correct as load balancing is disabled, but my reading of this page: https://documentation.meraki.com/MX/Monitoring_and_Reporting/Appliance_Status/MX_Uplink_Settings Active - WAN interface is healthy and is currently being used to send client traffic. Ready - WAN interface is not currently being used but is awaiting failover from the Primary uplink that is configured under Security & SD-WAN > Configure > SD-WAN & traffic shaping > Primary uplink. To configure an active-active load-balancing state, refer to our article on Load Balancing. I think WAN2 should be 'active' as the flow preference is making WAN2 be 'used to send client traffic' What does everyone else think please?

Thanks very much for posting about this, I just hit exactly this issue. They should really label the UI dropdown UDP & TCP and not 'any'!
