Hi MRCUR and Philip, I only read the L3 roaming description which appears at the Meraki dashboard, which only explains it is used to roam between APs, but it doesn't indicates "APs in differents VLANs". I have checked the Meraki documentation and there does explain L3 Roaming is used to roam between APs in different VLANs Since I can make the wireless VLAN available at all the APs as you said, then I will choose Bridge mode and tagging with the appropiate VLAN. Thanks very much for your help. Regards, Julián

Thanks @Adam and @PhilipDAth @MRCUR, I appreciate the caution but I'm not concerned about pushing the envelope. I was concerned that the MX would not throttle a 1G connection appropriately and we'd end up signing a new contract for 36 months, that would require purchasing replacement equipment when the pair of 84's I have are still more than enough for the office behind them.

You'll need to create a Systems Manager network. See here: https://documentation.meraki.com/SM/Systems_Manager_Quick_Start

i wonder if sip at meraki also reconize rtp or only signaling. if not, you would be better of adding the voip subnet to the rule. not sure why a email server need high priority.

I don't. It seems like it's in the core 802.11 standard as it's part of the 802.11 frame. Google is probably your best friend here.

Yes, that's correct. I see now that SFP+ Twinax is not backwards compatible with SFP ports. The thing that still has me puzzled is that when I plug both ends of the Twinax into the SFP ports on the MX100... the link lights come on. Very weird. In any case, I've got what I need and very much appreciate everyone's help at pointing out the obvious 🙂

Closing the loop on this...in case it is helpful for anyone else facing this problem. We reverted firmware from 14.25 to 13.28. After doing that - the device crashes (which appear to incorrectly cite power problems) stopped. On 14.25 these had started happening once each day. We made it through three days of production with no outages. Fortunately for us - the site-to-site VPN bug (known issue in 13.28 / fixed in 14.25) did not hit us again during production last week. On Saturday - we removed both of the MX devices from production, and replaced them with a new HA set devices from a Meraki competitor.

Hello, Once you get the traps to the other platform you will likely run into the issue we are having - the trap contain No IP or Hostname target information only the MAC address , Network Name / customer/Site / State / issue data. MAC is not the normal lookup value so were trying to build a workaround. I understand the devices are DHCP so IP *might* not be a valid target if its constantly changing. - but other customers I have talked to are using DHCP Reservation to have consistent IP Addresses used. We need something other than MAC in the traps to identify the target ! Don

See the very end of this doc for splitting networks: https://documentation.meraki.com/zGeneral_Administration/Organizations_and_Networks/Combined_Dashboard_Networks You can then rename the network to the desired name.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents in since I run the network for a school district currently. If you don't need devices on the public Wi-fi to access any file servers or printers, then you can simplify and get rid of VLAN 699. The MR access points allow you to differentiate Client IP assignment by SSID. My public SSID uses Meraki DHCP and my private SSID uses Local LAN DHCP. It's allowed me to simplify the VLANs while maintaining security, and that's always a great goal to have- simple and secure.

You are a font of fascinating knowledge, @Uberseehandel! After reading your comment, I'm tempted to replace our arrow kudos symbol with a rocket ship icon — but I imagine that would be even less intuitive than an arrow 😛🚀

This topic comes up enough that it would be beneficial for Meraki to include some information in the specs. There are different types of fans, software is involved, some power supplies have fans, some fans are removable, noise levels, etc.

This mostly spells it out. https://documentation.meraki.com/MS/Port_and_VLAN_Configuration/Recommended_Configuration_for_Trunk_Link_to_Non-Meraki_Switches Just make sure the physical interface you are configuring at the trunk is the actual interface connected to your switch trunk and not a sub interface.

So I discovered that with using the firewall as the gateway DNS requests were not being routed back to my internal DNS servers. Using external DNS servers has got it working. I think when I tried using external DNS the first time I didn't wait long enough for the error to clear.

@CarolineS The web cam cover will be saved for a new laptop, the present one has an excellent camera that has a bar each side of the lens which prevents attachment of the cover (perhaps there is what @PhilipDAth would recognise as a Nippon-Clipon, that I neglected to buy originally)
