@BlakeRichardson Just to test my theory, I just setup an iPad that had been offline for over a year and boom 53 notifications. I can scroll partway down the home page and the number has dropped to 33, so I believe this confirms what I was thinking and because you can only see a limited number of entries, I can't see the 33 other entries for apps that are available to download.   I just checked the number of Apps available for this iPad, 6 automatically downloaded and 47 are missing and available to download from the Apps section of the Meraki App.  ... @sHy    I have done some testing this afternoon using two iPads both running iOS 13.1.3.     Within Meraki I can get Apple Classroom to only work when the iPads are in the same network of Meraki. If I put the iPads in two different schools, as we have each school setup as its own network then the connection for Apple Classroom breaks.    I can even have them on two different WiFi networks, we broadcast a public open WiFi that has different restrictions than our WPA2-PSK secured networks and that works fine.   Even with Airplane mode on and these restrictions in place: (Force Wi Fi Power On: Yes and Bluetooth Modification: No) Apple Classroom continues to function.   I was also able to break Apple Classroom by pushing the command to disable Bluetooth to either teacher or student device, understandably.   I hope this helps for troubleshooting, I still think it is buggy behavior that the iPads "Must" be in the same network.   What say you to this @Noah_Salzman? ... Are the Staff and Student iPads in the same network in Meraki?   I ran across an issue yesterday where Apple Classroom did not work with the Staff member in a different network than the students. @davidtse916    With ASM you can build classes by hand and add students by hand. We have a couple of use cases where we have hand built classes in addition to the SFTP uploaded.    I would love to know more about your situation as it seems odd that a school cannot open SFTP to allow a connection for ASM.   Even using ASM with handbuilt classes seems like a decent option compared to your choices with Meraki as about all you are limited to is CSV imports of owners.   https://documentation.meraki.com/SM/Other_Topics/Owners ... @davidtse916 What about using tags based on owners? I import all of my users from ASM and then add in Meraki tags to the owner based on school and grad year to push out apps. @misterharrison    Yes, it kills the ability to bounce WiFi as a troubleshooting step.   Though to bounce WiFi now you would need to restart the iPad, the famous two button salute or by power off and back on.     Lots of things can be resolved by restarting an iPad and while bouncing WiFi is a valid troubleshooting step, your better off doing a full restart on an iPad as a troubleshooting step.     ... @misterharrison Yes, if you turn on this restriction there is no more ability to turn WiFi off. It stays on during Airplane mode and there is no option to turn WiFi off. You can still add and change WiFi networks though. ... View more

@SimonA1 and @Richard_W    Do these iPads have passcodes on them?   My belief is that when passcodes are enabled on an iPad, it must be entered to allow the update to occur. My understanding that this is an Apple restriction that was put into place.    Meraki can send the update but Apple, in their wisdom, requires the password to truly update the device. @Noah_Salzman I'll go poke the bear and ask Apple Enterprise support where is the feature that they said we'd have with iOS 13.   I'm still waiting for them to give us the ability to either force Bluetooth to always on or allow pairing while the Bluetooth setting is locked.   I've got two open cases with support on that ask, as if we let the students control Bluetooth it always seems to mysteriously turn off and then Apple Classroom doesn't work. ... @alexis_cazalaa    I heard a rumor about this from one of our Apple guys here about Apple Classroom breaking. I know no details other than that.   Needless to say this was reason enough to block updates for 30 days, but as everyone should know, if an iPad is reset or updated through iTunes/AC2 it updates to the latest iOS regardless of blocks.   I did test with a staff and student iPad running iOS 13.1 and had no issues with Apple Classroom breaking. @Locatetech It's not a problem at all.   I just know that sometimes big iOS updates don't always play as expected which is why I was hoping @Noah_Salzman might pop in to answer if it is working as expected with Meraki.   I do still think it is likely some combo of the check boxes blocking mail and photos from interacting. ...
