@BlakeRichardson After allowing students to name their iPads for one year it was decided they couldn't handle it so we now push out names to all student iPads.

@Noah_Salzman We should still be able to send pictures through mail on iOS, correct? I suspect there is a settings issue causing the problem here. Can you possibly assist?

@Unknown Looking at these settings I would think these would need to be checked. @Locatetech Have you tried checking these two boxes? I am assuming these are not managed email accounts but managed Apps so they would need to be checked. Also, which iOS are you using on the device as I know Apple has made some changes there as well that are dependant on iOS version.

@BlakeRichardson Not true. You can push out names to iPads through the Dashboard. There are two restrictions in settings which control this and in iOS 13 there was supposed to be a way to keep the name up to date without having to have Allow modification of device name enabled. @Noah_Salzman Glad to see the fix that was just pushed out appears to resolved this issue within Meraki. I will let you know if I see it occuring at any of our networks again.

@Noah_Salzman I too am seeing this affecting my district's iPads. If there is anything I can do to assist, please let me know. I have open cases with both Meraki and Apple Enterprise support on this issue. One thing I have noticed is that it seems to impact both teachers and students with more than one class assigned. I have yet to see any examples in my district of just a single class causing this issue.

@intensify I see you did not check the box for using ASM to send information, was this intentional? I would highly recommend using ASM to manage your users and not Meraki.

@intensify Right now I'm on the phone with Meraki support as I am having issues with the Classroom profile installing onto the iPads. I am getting the following error. Code: 1000 Domain: MCProfileErrorDomain Error: The profile “Apple School Manager - Classroom” is invalid. Error: The payload “Apple School Manager - Classroom” is invalid. Error: A group with the beacon ID “40” already exists Are you seeing any errors when the profile applies?

@XiperV It's working as designed. The import from VPP is just a header, you need to select one of the sub categories to perform the import. Meraki has designed the system to either import iOS, Mac or TVOS apps at a time.

@Lemmy I think that with two different networks solves your issues. One it allows you to "tag" the AP with the separation for location because you assign the AP to the network for either 24 Hours or Daytime. This then allows you to create different broadcast schedules based on the network rather than tagging. I think this solves the issue of tagging as well because if you need a specific AP to be on 24/7 or only available during the day you move it into the corresponding network and it will automatically follow the availability for that network.

@Lemmy Another option is to create two networks one for daytime use and one for 24 hours, that would allow you to create two different schedules that would broadcast the same SSID.

@BlakeRichardson Actually for the most part everything works. Rolling out new MR 45 APs this summer is our challenge, whereas last year it was swapping out all of our older iPads for the 6th gen iPad. That was the stuff of nightmares.

@PhilipDAth Yes, I've worked out quite a few of the issues between Apple and Meraki when it comes to Apple School Manager and Apple Classroom. @Nash One day when I have some time I'll lean more about using the API to make managing all of these iPads easier. I must say auto-tags based on Apple Classroom enrollment make my job a whole lot easier when it comes to managing Apps.

@alexis_cazalaa All I wanted to do was to exclude my Mac Devices by using the Auto Tag but I guess it's by design to work this way which makes no sense. If you select without any it should exclude whatever is in the list to be excluded. The development team got back on this and confirmed that this is expected behavior of auto-tags. SM cannot scope “WITHOUT ANY of the following tags” and OS type auto tag by itself . The OS type autotag is used to define the scope, and you can use a complimentary device tag to narrow it down further. I would recommend the following: 1) Use just "With any/all of the following" and iOS OS type auto tag Thank you, Cisco Meraki Technical Support

SM most definitely has the ability to play a sound. It requires the device to be put into lost mode first in the dashboard and then you get the option to play a sound and find a current location, just as you would with Find my iPhone.
