Factory reset is better done like this: In the dashboard: remove the switch from the network. This prevents the switch to fetch the old config from the dashboard and then it´s not in an default config any more. Then push the reset button at least 10seconds. I also had MS120-8FP they were not blinking (the older MS225-8FP did). After this procedure put the switch into the network. This will create a new config for the switch.

Did you test to shut the ports for about 15minutes? On Cisco "classic" products the arp timeout is standard on 900seconds =15 minutes.

The Radius server is not a Windows-server it´s the Cisco ISE.

This is not working. This error message appeared: Authentication failed while testing on one of your APs. This means the RADIUS server was reached but your credentials were incorrect. The test was stopped to prevent this account from being locked out due to multiple failed attempts. Please try again with different username and/or password. I think it´s not a domain-account.

Hi, does anybody know what to fill in in the RADIUS-test (Username / Password)? Is it an Cisco ISE (RADIUS-server) account? (didn´t work). Is it an Active Directory account? (didn´t work). My RADIUS-server Cisco ISE is working well, everything does as it should be. But I want to know how this test is working. thanks

IP-address is not copied. You can change it later.

Use the reset button. Put the switch into a LAN with DHCP. After restarting the switch gets an DHCP and conncts to the dashboard. Then you can change the IP settings. When you are to far abroad to push the reset button try to put the uplink where the switch is connected to into an DHCP LAN. Typically the switch tries to connect to the dashboard and if this is not working the switch tries to get an DHCP.

I had the same issue with Apple computers. Dell/Windows is no problem but Apples are changing often their network speed. With fixed speed setting on the switch it´s working.

- We use bpdu-guard for client ports to prevent spanning-tree problems f.e. when users connect switches to the ports. - We use loop-guard on switches with multiple uplink-ports to prevent loops in case of spanning-tree or aggregation problems. - We don´t use the root-guard option because our core-switch is the rootguard with the best bridge ID priority value. Yes, I have to replace 21 switches in different locations. That is not a good karma. It would be really nice to get a license duration upgrade or something else.

A strange thing happened today. I did an software upgrade from 25.11 to 25.12 on one of my WLAN-networks. And now some of the accesspoints are showing the software version 26.0 altough 26.0 wasn´t offered. Two of four accesspoints are on 25.12 and two are on 26.0.

I know that the software updates didn´t helped. So this is why I had to replace all these switches in the last month. The question now is: was this replacement resolving the issue or do I have to replace all the switches again. Until now I did´t have any temperature issues.

Oh no, I got a mail from Meraki that I have to replace 21 Meraki MS225-48LP switches. But I am wondering why. I had to replace switch by switch the last 18 month because of the fan issue. And now I have to do it again? Im worrying how to do that.

Wanted to do the updates last week from 10.6 to 10.29 while the 10.30 was arriving. So I changed my schedules to 10.30 beta. And while upgrading to 10.30 the status changed from beta to stable release candidate. This quick changes where pleasantly surprising me. But now in the end everything is working well with 10.30

Yes, while upgrading from 9.x to 10.x we had some spanning-tree loops too. It was with stacks. But after this all the upgrades were working fine. 10.x has some nice features and spanning-tree configs that I can use. And it´s more stable in the end. So, now I did update 7 of our 8 networks. The last one I will do in two weeks when the other networks are doing well.

Hi, I want to update my switches (many MS-8P and MS220 and MS225, some are stacked) from 10.6. to 10.29. I want to remove some stacking issues and I like to have the UDLD and the spanning-tree guard feature. Are there any experiences with that update? Thank you Markus

After weeks spending with support and a Cisco Case Cisco made a patch on our Cisco-ISE. It´s working better now, not perfect but better. Now we have this ISE versions: Version: 2.2.0.470 Patch Information: 1,2,7,8,9
