As above ^ shoot for the straight swap out. I had no issues swapping an MX64 over to an MX75. Configure the new device offline, WAN IP, DNS via local status page. Remove the old Mx from network and move the new one in.

Bit of a tricky one this as you literally want your users on the wifi/network to download the patch as quickly as possible and then get off again. So if you restrict or rate limit that traffic then the devices are going to be hogging airtime for longer whilst waiting for the patch to download.

Yeah, Meraki have been price matching the MR44’s to the 36’s for a good few months. This summer one customer got a full upgrade from the MR36’s to the 44’s and also Full PoE switches from the LP’s. That was one happy customer.

As previously indicated the MR36 is the like for like replacement. However, they’re like gold dust at the moment with current shipping times over 120+ days. I wouldn’t be planning this project in any time soon.
