Re: MT Devices API showing firmware': 'Not running configured version'

I have the same issue with an appliance running mx 16.16(?). The version is shown in the dashboard, but as "Not running configured version" using the api call dashboard . devices . getDevices or dashboard.organization.getOrganizationDevices ... View more

I'm seeing this same exact issue. We have unbound hundreds of networks, but there are 3 that we get an error on. We're using the Meraki dashboard to do this. I downloaded and analyzed the HAR data to find the "unbinding will not retain the correct config" response. Meraki support suggested it was trying to save MX and MR configs, but the network was switch only. We appeased their request by creating a combined network and then retrying but still receive the same error. ... View more

You can put the conditions { networkId[s array], serials[ array], statuses[ array], models[ array], productTypes [array] } with the request:  Curl: curl -L --request GET --url "https://api.meraki.com/api/v1/organizations/12345/devices/statuses?serials[]=Q2CV-XXXX-XXXX" --header "Content-Type: application/json" --header "Accept: application/json" --header "X-Cisco-Meraki-API-Key: 1234567890"   Python: myDevDetail = dashboard . organizations . getOrganizationDevicesStatuses ( myOrgID , serials = myDev [ 'serial' ])     ... Hi All,   The licenses were purchased and faced a tough challenge. All the 270 licenses expired in one day. Then the TAC engineer clarified following. Meraki Licenses are by default activated on the day of shipping. It doesn't wait for the dashboard addition or activation. That way all my licenses expired before the day I tried adding them.    So basically, this idea doesn't work. One day License means, One day only. Count of it doesn't matter. Anyway, I managed my situation. But Huge warning to others. ... View more

There are several things you can do such as:   - Error catching -> If no errors are caught then its safe to assume things worked out  - Read API calls afterwards -> This will allow you to check the read data against certain conditions  Generally speaking though, the logic you're trying to do doesn't make much sense. The API touches only what its meant to and nothing else. There's no way to ensure that the correct configurations were made because it is not possible to define "correct" in terms of code, especially since the whole point of the script is to change the configurations and thus the definition of "correct" changes as well. If the script is meant to change configurations, that's exactly what it will do. Nothing else. ... View more

Re: Dynamic API Token Generation For Temporary Users with Vault

by Computeracer in Developers & APIs
‎07-02-2022 05:51 PM
‎07-02-2022 05:51 PM
The benefit of api tokens that can quickly be created and destroyed are that they are short lived, and less likely to be compromised. The vault product could create the temporary token and it would exist only for the amount of time needed for a job to finish it's work and then no longer exist. A job could perform any meraki configuration through the api. Even if we just had an API call to create and delete the API tokens for an existing user would be a small step to work towards this. It is inconvenient to have to come up with email aliases for a 'service account' that a human would never use, but not a show stopper to work towards short lived tokens. ... View more
