Hi, I've observed something similar, in the deployment of a Dante audio network, as audio specialist, we got mixed answers from the IT company that deployed the Merakis, they even analysed the problem with Cisco support. No fact based answer. The information that came out was a problem with multicast tables synchronisation in a stack. No idea if it is an officially reviewed bad config or a bug, but destacking and setting LAG off solved the problems. Only took 11 months to solve :). Thanks for posting @IsaacG as your post was the trigger for a review of the system (the possibility that switching  was the problem). ... View more

Hey @DR1 ,   We're in a similar situation. 3 x MS225s distributed across three floors and we don't want to use up all the 10G SFP+ ports on the front of the switch as trunk up to the other switches from the one in the server room.   Based on what was suggested in the long post above, I should get away with these https://www.fs.com/uk/products/36157.html and this https://www.fs.com/uk/products/68017.html   I think? Either way, they're cheap enough that it should be an issue to try them out and see what happens.   Did you mange to try anything with QSFP+ over a fibre connection? Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to offer any experience in the future on you endeavour to use QSFP28 transceivers as we don't have any in our switches. ... View more

Just create the vlan and ip on the mx. And turn of dhcp for that vlan. Then put it on the trunk to a switch.  Exclude mx ip from your dhcp server ... View more

I have been using NDI for live streaming sports interviews. My LAN setup is: iPhone 8, using the NDIcam app > MR52 > MS220-8P > Lenovo streamer laptop   The limiting factor of course in this setup is the distance from where the interview takes place to my MR52, so I have not really pushed the boundaries in terms of bandwidth, as I'm running live streams and don't want surprises. 🙂   All in all, my experience has been very positive. You can see an example of video transmitted over NDI here: https://youtu.be/VFm7SgHJ1uo?t=14677 ... View more

I would just put two Cisco Firepower 1120 in the two offices and run an IPsec VPN through the other organisations infrastructure. And if they provide you two ports you could also do redundancy. Another solution would be (but I am pretty sure the other organisation can not provide the infrastructure for this) to put two Catalyst 3560-CX in both offices and protect the link with MacSec. This would work if they can provide you a "patched" link without any of their outdated switches in the connection. ... View more

@EJN    Kicking myself now because this article was hiding in plain site.   I think this was the problem in at least one of the cases earlier and suspect that I could improve IR quality by loosening some of the MV22x gaskets before tightening the covers back into place so they're pressed right up against the dome.   Thanks for pointing it out! ... Love LHLS. We have 100 MV 2nd Gen and I'm experiencing under 1 second delay when on the LAN. The prior 3-6 second delay was OK for our use-case, but this makes it so much nicer when it's almost real time. Thank you Meraki team. ... View more

We use TP-Link switches on the edge.. non managed of course. This was after days of troubleshooting with Cisco Meraki support they finally said it wasn't supported. I suppose there are ways to do it, but at that point we found non-managed switches on the edge worked best for us. ... View more

Unless you like a lot of maths you wouldn't want to do it with an MV32 because of the fish eye lense.  Everything straight line is a curve.   You would want to look at MV12s or MV22/MV22-X.  The MV22/MV22-X might be needed to get an optical zoom if the camera is going to be high up.   The easiest option would be to instead use people counting via MQTT.  If the room exceeds "x" number of people then generate an alert.   Otherwise you are going to need to use the same people detection via MQTT, but calculate the distance yourself and calibrate those distance measurements.   With regard to people counting and you are able to "cut some code", you could base it off something like my ICU code, and just change it to only trigger when a specific count is exceeded. https://www.ifm.net.nz/cookbooks/meraki-icu.html  ... Hello,   I saw your post and signed up to ask this question. We're in the middle of trialling a full stack of network, wifi, and meraki cameras for a fairly large museum space.   We're interesting in using the MV32, MV22x, or both for counting the number of people at any given moment in very large rooms with 12' high ceilings. Some of these rooms will be quite dark.   There could be 100 people in a room, with people streaming in and out constantly with that number increasing and decreasing constantly.   Regarding per camera object detection: Is there any 'upper limits' for maximum number of object detections at a time per. camera that we should be aware of? This detail is not explored or mentioned anywhere in the documentation. It seems likely that the performance hit on the hardware would scale up to some kind of hard limit, or start to loose its fidelity due to buffering.   Along these lines, do you know if theres already a feature in the dashboard that displays a quantity of type(people in the case) of objects detected? If not, can these be extrapolated from the API?   Thank you, Darius ... View more
