I am not sure the answer to your specific question, but personally I never noticed or paid attention to the dB listed in Air Marshal under the ‘other’ tab. I would be much more concerned with channel utilization and the RF spectrum view if I suspect WiFi or non WiFi interference. The best way in my opinion to increase performance and reliability in radio noisy environments is to have more radios closer to the clients with lower power and preferably 5Ghz. I guess you could ask your neighbors to adjust their gear, but that seems a long shot at best that they even have a clue or could if they wanted to.

I have questioned it on occasion, but it seems mostly accurate. Why would you assume your cable is good when the test shows a problem though? Keep in mind all the points from A-Z the cable could be in trouble from end to end through jacks, patch cords, patch panels, etc.

I’ll just add one thing because I think it may not be mentioned in the documentation. Take note of the appliance name, physical address and notes in dashboard if they are important to you. They will all be blank after the swap.

To get closer to real time or live analysis I think you will need to employ netflow and/or send network flows to a syslog server for further analysis with another tool. I have not done it myself, but understand generally it should be possible and maybe someone else can chime in with preferred tools for the analysis and monitoring.

If I understand, they are saying the clients will technically connect to SSID, but be blocked from resources based on the policy. Is that what you are asking?

No, but I *hate* that feature and it never did anything but cost me time and money by trying to outsmart me and configure ports dynamically in a way I didn’t intend or even know was being set. Do you really like the feature? I am curious to hear how it has worked well for you and on which switches. It was the SMB switches like SG300/500 series that drove me nuts.. There is one feature supported on some MS and MR models called SecureConnect that seems somewhat useful is limited situations, I guess: https://documentation.meraki.com/MS/Access_Control/SecureConnect

No. It sounds like a cosmetic mistake because in general every device does need a license to operate, but there are exceptions like SFP or mounting bracket or antenna, etc.

There is nothing you need to do. That is just a notice for users that may have restrictive security policies and may need or want to know how to specifically allow access to their service.

It seems like that would be impossible to estimate since each system can be so different, no? Which types of logs specifically? Maybe you can sample a system for a day or a week to get a baseline?

I would try the device without any of that, personally. I don’t have experience with that particular device, but often these devices intended for home users give instructions that are not accurate and degrade your security. I have a strong suspicion it will work out of the box without any port forwarding rules as long as you are not explicitly blocking anything it needs.

@BlakeRichardson Ha. This particular building is troublesome as it is federal government and needs security and escorts and can take 30 minutes from arrival just to get inside a room 😉
