Like Blake said, they are not actually switch ports. You can assign basic things but if you are thinking about LACP or something in them lines you are not going to get that functionality. If you let us know what your trying to do someone might be able to point you in the direction of a solution that will still get done what you want.

As part of an ongoing cleanup, We have a large amount of IP Addresses in Content Filtering->URL Blocking->Blocked URL Patterns. Question is, does having IP addresses do anything at all there? From the description it seems that this section works on a DNS type situation. Seems like it would be a Layer 3 incoming rule to block, but I can't have those. So layer 3 outgoing rule?

I currently have two organizations. I want to be able to collapse them into one because the VPN between the two is a nightmare since Auto-VPN doesn't work due to them being different organizations. But have some questions. 1. Is there a way to just have the networks from one "moved" to the other? 2. For the currently installed VPN on the to-be dissolved organization, will it need reinstalled on local machines when moved over? 3. What fall back options are there if there are complications and we cant finish the work? 4. What possible issues can we run into? 5. Can this be done network by network or is it an all at once or nothing type of thing?

Happened twice more, looks like it is packet loss hitting ~25%. So it must be some threshold for packet loss that is sending the alarm. The ping helped, thanks everyone.

One of out sites had some old network equipment die so this is the first I was able to look at it. But does seems to has some short periods of packet loss. But no notifications from these drops and the last alerts I got was at 3am and seems to line up with one of the peaks of packet loss. But there are some other points that have packet loss and I did not receive an alert. Is there a % threshold on when a link is considered down? Anyone know how much of an overhead VPN takes on the bandwidth, thought maybe our speeds just slow down to the point VPN can't stay connected.

I would very much like to determine if its a connection issue or VPN issue. But I am confused. If I put a uplink statistic check to my remote site from HQ, wouldn't that just go over the same VPN and if/when VPN drops wouldn't it than just go over WAN? I have statistic setup for google (8.8.8.8) already.

"periods" are usually <30 seconds. Often showing multiple instances of down/up within same minute in alert email. I don't mean "Man this VPN is down I need to wait to connect" more of a "Why am I getting 5-6 emails from meraki every day filled with multiple instances of this connection going up and down?" Example is I am right now looking at email from last night where it went down/up 8 times in 5 minutes and all the "outages" where <1 minute.

I have a very large amount of VPN status change alerts in both sides of the vpn but no details on why. I think I might be running into issues with the onsite router (Verizon DSL) I am thinking that if it was setup with the default 192 address and still has NAT translation enabled that maybe the firewall rules were left default as well and could be causing it.

Continuing issue for us is a AutoVPN connection that literally can bounce a dozen times a day. But Meraki dashboard, even though it sends constant alerts saying VPN is down/up, says the connection is solid. Location is a DSL site. Question is, 1. can double NAT cause issues with the AutoVPN? 2. Does anyone else have experience with a MX on a DSL connection and have any issues? 3. Is there ANYTHING at all I can use to try and diagnose what is going on with this VPN connection?

Personally I try to avoid daisy chaining at all cost. It works until the first one in the chain doesn't. If you can get a second run to the closet it would be best, even if you stack them. Im not sure how virtual stacking differs from physical but physical you could LACP the two lines and in the event one switch dies the link fails over to a single cable and one switch and you only loss half the connections.

Not using VLAN 1 is pretty much the only suggestion since there is no VTP on Meraki so not to much benifit to staying inside standard VLAN range. But any VLAN you want to reach other side of MX you will need to configure in MX. Any switch you want to have ability to use VLAN will need VLAN configured. Layer3 switches you will also want to configure an interface so they can route packets between VLANS. Be sure not to reassign interface IPs when doing this.

Like others said check to make sure trunks are working. Are you receiving DHCP addresses? Can you reach gateway of each subnet? Can you ping across subnets? Are you plugging into an access port properly configured for needed VLAN or are you connecting to a Trunk and getting dumped into the native VLAN?

Will everyone else has the ability to view some of the entries? I have actually had issues with this in the past (Not Meraki/Cisco equipment) at a large resort and the engineer before me blindly trusted manufacture specs. So the 120+ Clients it was planned for turned out to be 15 Clients before everyone stopped being able to connect at all. I would just appreciate the chance to see how others have tackled this.

Management VLAN is the VLAN your switch will need to get IP address from. Management traffic (traffic generated by switch) leaves untagged. So you will need to make sure that it is also on the trunk ports at least back to appliance as a native VLAN (untagged) It could be also, that you changing the management VLAN to 1 and IP address to 2 you cut off the management traffic to Meraki from your switch. So dashboard will show last updated information. So you could try to reconfigure it via local URL, but again your going to have a bad time because it shouldn't work like that.

This is petty, I know, buuuuut technically you can't. Port (Ether) Channel is Cisco Proprietary. Link Aggregation is open. Meraki uses LACP (Link Aggregation) Not really a big deal but if you are connecting to a non Meraki switch, just make sure you are using "Active" or "Passive" when configuring the other side of the bundle on the non-Meraki. if you use "on", "Auto" or "Desirable" it wont work.

@Adam Thats what I expected but needed to verify. And both sites are pretty distantly remote and closets are locked. @jdsilva Flakey would be a overly optimistic term for one site but the other is pretty solid.

I have a MX-65 and MX-100 giving me same issue and I am not sure if it is Aircard or by design. Both of them have an active connection in WAN1 and WAN2. Also they both have cellular fail over. But Cellular is showing "connecting" at all times. Suspicion is it might be due to having two Active WAN ports. Neither one of these sites are easy to get to. Is there any way to determine if A. Aircards are bad/not connecting. or B. Meraki leaves them in connecting state while it already has two connections.The USB aircards are pretty standard and we use the same ones at other sites without issue, but they all only have one WAN connection.

One thing our location has been running into a lot with our new computers is Air Marshall seeing a Rouge AP every time someone looks for a new printer. Seems like the new Intel Wireless cards throw out a random-ish SSID for a direct connect, and searching for a printer triggers it. I spent more time then I would like to admit tracking that down.

We have multiple remote sites connected over DSL with a VPN back to our main site. Would I be setting myself up for any issues if I set up a DHCP Relay address from the MX at one of our remote sites back to the DHCP server at our main site? The VPN aspect of this is what is throwing me off. Thank you in advance.

I had stuff act funny when I configured the static IP on the AP with different sub DNS then what the DHCP server normally had for that subnet. Example I used basic Meraki DHCP with google DNS for guest network (8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4) but when I put in static I used ( 8.8.8.8 1.1.1.1). changed that to match and power cycled and it worked fine

set the native VLAN on the switch you are plugging it on to the VLAN you want to get the address to and under the DHCP settings on the AP remove the number in the VLAN box. I had same issue. If you dig around it is something about double tagging.
