I have gotten >70 alerts in 10 minutes for three organizations across three states and close to 40 networks. All other monitoring I have in place show nothing but alerts from Meraki are going nuts.

We are to the point where we have close to 60 separate locations and likely going to be picking up more. A lot of the locations have the MX handling DHCP. I was wondering if I would be able to export that DHCP information to some type of DHCP monitoring / inventory tool. Something where I could connect it to a collection of DHCP servers and MX devices and be able to see subnets in use, subnets almost extinguished, statics assigned, etc. That way we can keep a better idea of what suubnets are being used where, what subnets could be drawn back, which ones might need extended, etc. Is this something I can do with a MX? I know the information that can be pulled via SNMP is very low so I wasnt sure if this is even a capability for the MX to share its current DHCP info. Aside from an excel spread sheet, what is everyone else using? *Please move if this is in wrong section.

Situation, One of our organizations have a MX65 at main office and purchased MX68 for small one person office off site. Question 1, Is there an easy or recommended way I could just swap the MX in the dashboard with them being different models? Question 2, Could I split networks into MX, Switch, AP, etc. Make new network with new MX, coping the MX65 Network, and then combine New MX68 network with old switch and AP network? Or would the old network just do back to combining the way it was prior to be broken apart?

1. Can you statically assign a IP and get outside the VLAN or Network? 2. With Static IP can you ping Gateway and server? 3. Check trunk ports. I have mistakenly pruned a VLAN in the past and its easy to do and not realize.

So before I came here the company had a policy close to "Unbox, create network, assign IP, enable site to site VPN, install" And I am trying to build a better network company wide but would like to be able to build a lab to test different features so I am not messing with production setting. But also it would be dumb to keep buying license for switches and what not that will not leave my work room. Question is can I order hardware without licensing. Add to dashboard and than before 30 days are up delete network and remove devices from inventory? And in another week or so loop back around to it and add them all in and start again? I know this will leave my time to actually configure and test to be less than 30 days but it could essentially cut the cost of my lab close to half. Anyone else have any recommendations?

I am trying to apply Group Policy with Active Directory integration. I have Active directory setup and looks fine there, and I tested group policy with manually applying it to machines and it works there. But I can not get it to work when applied through AD integration. I verified that I am attaching it to correct group, but in the event log I do not see where AD authentication is being done. Does it matter that the machine if physically connected vs wifi? Can anyone give me next steps on where to look.

I will try the ping and see if that works, usually don't like turning VPN on with my test network so was hoping someone had some experience with the situation. As far as the other device, there is no way I am going to be able to get anything approved that has Huawei anywhere near it.

So We have usb730l at a few sites for cellular fail over. One site we where having some issues with when the ISP was going to actually show up to instal the broadband. So I set up one MX65 and got it configured and used aircard to get it back on cloud and shipped it over there. Since than, we have tried 4 usb730l, and three MX65's and two MX68's at three different physical locations ~hour and a half apart. Can not for the life of me get a stable connection. Called Verizon and got two of the usb730l's swapped out and zero change. They will just randomly go in and out and I will go home at night and wake up to 100+ alert emails of VPN disconnecting or MX "Changing its uplink" when Cellular is the only uplink. The last models worked so much better, any idea how to fix this? Mentioned it to Comcast Tech and he said he believes they might have a data saving feature that turns off connection if it sees that not a lot is going through. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I started my networking experience in a 5 star resort. There we hand Unifi... and we had a bad time. I have since left and Unifi... well they are still having a bad time. BUT! At my new position we are re-designing HQ as we are moving. Turns out there will be 4 large conference rooms and one training room in what used to be an auditorium. And I got the OK for MR55 in each one. I am really excited to not have nightmares the night before events about APs being over loaded. About us putting to many to try and counter act that which does nothing but make the radio strength weaker. No more worrying about having a Cat5 cable somehow hid and ran to podium "just in case" even though every time was a "Just in Case" situation. Now just sit back and be worry free as 100+ employees surf Facebook during a company meeting and no-one comes to me after complaining about wifi being bad. Truly good times ahead.

I mean it sucks and maybe you can call your rep and see if you can get them swapped out or something to save some face with your company. But man I got to call you out for being that guy who is in a industry where we are always getting blamed for everything and people screaming at us because its broken and you have the nerve to do that to another IT professional. Man you know full well who ever you are going to call and "Give some shouts" to had nothing to do with the design change, the possibility of you swapping it out for the hardware you need, any policy that will prohibit that from happening, how long it took you to realize it wont work, and your blind ignorance and laziness of not checking the documentation before making an order. Seriously man not cool.

Our company has two AD accounts for IT staff. A regular user log in and an administrator account we use for credentials for elevation prompts. I wanted to apply a "Lock Down" Group policy in Meraki to our admin accounts in the case one gets compromised and someone logs in with it. And that "Lock Down" GP will block all internet connectivity. But we obviously need these to log onto servers which need to be online. So if I would add a GP to the servers on a device level that copies our current firewall and traffic shaping rules, and apply the "locked down" GP to our admin accounts, which one would take priority and be followed? Would the user GP block internet connectivity or would the devices GP override what policies the user has and allow it? I can try building a test network but was hoping someone might have some more insight or maybe a backup plan if this wouldn't work.

So, we have a MX100, Content filtering is turned on to block Nudity, but it is incorrectly flagging a resort website. Is there a way to have the URL reevaluated or double checked? Would like to just have classification fixed if possible instead of white listing it.

Thanks for the help. Because of how I have been deploying some of these networks, mine and my Systems Admin's computers where showing "Template" for a lot of locations, looked like amateur hour and at least now I know it only looks that way for us.

That is definitely eye opening. I will need to take a better look but I think this may be the problem. So in theory this should only effect my PC that I used for connectivity and functionality testing but once equipment is deployed all new computers should see the new/current network name?

So how templates are set up in the dashboard doesn't fit want I want to do with them. So instead I have a "-Template" Network with basic settings I want assigned to all new networks and I customize and build from there. The downside is even thou I believe I removed all signed of the "Template" name, it is still showing as the network name in Windows and I can not seem to find out where in Meraki it is getting that name from. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, good ideas everyone but I didn't explain good enough. The Team viewer instances are used only by the company who designed and made the hardware, we internally use Bomgar for remote support. This is where out issues start to come in because we need to secure the rest of the network from the window we opened to allow remote connection to the control computers to manage the custom equipment for the site.

Trying to block WAN to LAN Teamviewer access from all but one remote IP. I work in the energy industry. Coal cleaning plants, power plants, mines, etc. all have custom built sensor equipment and software that runs each location. I need to allow team viewer access so they can remote in and fix issues with software and diagnose hardware issues but need to limit access from only their IP.

Is there a way to allow TeamViewer access to only a specified IP though the MX? Do to our situation my ability to manage this software and the systems this is on is extremely limited. Was hoping for a way to try and secure it through the network.

That is actually what I was going to move to after thinking about it more. I think Meraki needs a "Experienced" mode that does less of this Apple style "We know what you want better than you" stuff and turn off some of these automatic things so we don't need to have work around for turning off some of the "simplicity" features.

Ok, you are right so far, but two things. 1.What am I missing on why the MX is still reachable? 2. I have my VLAN 90 blocked from seeing the other local VLANS, But I have ~30 locations that are going to be connecting back via VPN. And I going to need to add each of the VLANs to this firewall rule? This is going to become very hard to manage going forward is so.

Do to our AV I cant test pinging devices because ICMP traffic to them are blocked so even if I could reach them it says I cant. But the gateway IP's would still fall under that rule so I don't understand why traffic is still making it through. I don't have L3 Switching enabled on switch but just to take that out of equation I am plugged straight into the MX.

I cant seem to segregate vlan traffic. The automatic routing in the MX is throwing me for a loop. I need n internal VLAN that is blocked from all other VLANs. I added in what I think the firewall rules should be but can not get it segregated. wireless is easy as I can just not make it part of LAN, but this will be a physically connected network inside one of my locations I need to . We have Symantec AV so I cant ping endpoints because pings are blocked, but I can still reach the MX ip of every VLAN regardless of what VLAN I am connected to. Any help is appreciated.
