Are you asking because of POE? This switch is POE+ so everything should be fine.

Hmm, what else has an IP on this VLAN? Do a packet capture on the ISP port and look for ARP packets.

We have no service to any of the buildings currently. I've been told they do not want a monthly bill x5 locations.

I also thought that an email may have gotten blocked, but I checked our Mimecast portal to confirm that only one email was sent by Meraki this morning.

The answer is yes, but it has nothing to do with multiple Ethernet ports. By "yes", I mean that you can configure it so that all traffic for an SSID goes to a seprate MX by way of a separate VLAN that is not configured on the primary MX or is not trunked to it. This approach requires L2 connectivity between APs and MX.

Agreed. It might also be helpful to note some of the limitations on the WPN page, since that is based on iPSK in most cases AFAIK. https://documentation.meraki.com/MR/Encryption_and_Authentication/Wi-Fi_Personal_Network_(WPN)

Have you found documentation confirming OSPF support on the CS? Or are you planning on running them with IOS-XE? If the former, which I would assume based on the '-M' models, I would try to clarify two points with Meraki support regarding the OSPF functionality would be the same as what is in the MS OSPF documentation. The docs note limitations with warm spare (VRRP). This may be a non-issue, but I couldn't find OSPF docs related to Catalyst switches in Meraki mode. I might also be misunderstanding the design.

I'd look into SNMP polling and Netflow. Is there a specific design goal or business use case that you're aiming to achieve? I expect that most Meraki networks would experience mostly north-south traffic so MX monitoring might address some of the utilization monitoring needs. https://documentation.meraki.com/General_Administration/Monitoring_and_Reporting/SNMP_Overview_and_Configuration https://documentation.meraki.com/General_Administration/Monitoring_and_Reporting/Meraki_Device_Reporting_-_Syslog%2C_SNMP%2C_and_API

It seems like you have a few options: 1. Hire a wireless consultant 2. Install at least one AP in every room (mounted horizontally) 3. Accept that performance will not meet expectations of IT or users

I recommend using the multiple profiles feature. I usually do this in Chrome, but it also works in Edge. Firefox is a bit trickier, but may be doable.

Never heard of a MultiMode Bidir SFP, so i think that the bidir SFP you testet with would work. If you had a singelmode fiber.

Jumpcloud will do this and will tie in with M365 and Google workspace however it's no where near as granular as NPS.

I understand your frustration, the point is to understand the needs and based on that assess whether Meraki will meet them or not. I have customers who currently have an entire Meraki infrastructure and are happy because Meraki meets their needs, just as I have customers who left Meraki for another solution precisely because it did not meet certain points. That's why it's important to understand the customer's needs first.

I had previously helped to address Wi-Fi issues for Joan devices. They were not easy to work with, in general. We had some success with one separate 2.4GHz SSID for Joan devices on Arista WAPs. We limited which WAPs had 2.4 GHz radio enabled, which was very helpful and is best practice anyways since there are only three 2.4 GHz channels. In your case, separate SSIDs for different WAPs might help. At that time I ultimately recommended installing the Joan 6 Pro, which was the only model that supports a wall-mounted PoE dock.

If you're in for the SOHO / advanced home use case, you might probably be "better off" with Ubiquity or Mikrotik. As soon as you start to realize that there's an enterprise market out there, you definitely will run away from those as fast as you even can. 😉 And this is where the money lies.

I disagree, we rolled out a full new phone system last year. 100+ handsets. We looked at soft-phones and determined for our user base it was to hard and not cost effective with the reasons being 1. End users don't have company provided mobile phones and asking user to install company app's on personal devices creates massive backlash. 2. Because of the above point you suddenly need to supply headsets for each user to use with their laptop so whole offices are not hearing private calls, this is more expensive than buying a shared handset for an office.

Hi there, If we are observing that the APs are not obeying the configured RF profile settings and there are no manual overrides specified then I would encourage you to engage Meraki support and open a case. Based upon the date of the initial post if APs have not lowered their power transmission in about 24-48 hours then there could be a greater issue. I have observed scenarios where APs will not transmit at a forced maximum power due to regulatory domain restrictions, but I have not come across the opposite where they will not lower their maximum power transmission.

Swapped out the MS220 for a MS350 and it works kinda sorta. MXA is up with the assigned address in the /29 but MXB says "not connected" even though I can see pings to it's assigned WAN interface on the pcap - it just doesn't respond.

i get a fealing that many api's for switch port profiles are missing, so it it very hard to use this nice feature. I have a bigger problem than you i first need to create the profiles on over 900 individual networks, and no way i am doing that manualy. so we just have to wait for meraki to update the API's before we can use the fucntionalty at bigger scale

@K2_Josh from my experience you are often asked to upgrade to the latest stable or stable release candidate by support when there is an issue, if you aren't already on it. I would always advise to go to the latest version that you feel comfortable with. We generally only run stable versions in our main data centre, but do run release candidate and beta versions in smaller sites.
