Thanks @PhilipDAth that makes sense for MR. I think MX and MS if they sell you the license they will cover the hardware with it though, right? I know some licenses are labeled EOS but can still be purchased making me think if the MX or MS failed Meraki would replace with same or similar.

I doubt anyone in these forums including employees will be able to tell you why. I also don't think there is any law or regulation requiring Cisco to support anything for any specific length of time. That said, consider the difference between end of sale, end of life and end of support. End of support typically goes much longer and I think you can find Meraki devices still supported after 10 or more years. As long as you can purchase a license it is supported, but if the hardware fails it may be subject to being replaced by a different device if the original device is no longer available or being made. In theory you can go miles with directional antennas. Example: https://rfelements.com/products/starterdish/starterdish-um-antennas/overview Honestly, I don't think Meraki is best suited for point-to-point to links, but may work fine for you. You can pick up a pair-of-point to point radios for about $100 USD of various brands that will just work out of the box for fairly long distances.

That is an interesting one. I don't think there is really a way to know for sure, but I think there are three possibilities: - Wiring issue - Switchport issue - Bad luck two phones died I suppose you need to try a third phone regardless so what I would do is plug the third new phone into a known working location that already has the same model or similar phone working to confirm it works there for some hours or days before trying to move it back to the desired location. And actually if you get this far, I would first move the new phone to the desired switch port directly and only after seeing it work for some time there then move it back to the location at the end of the wiring. This way if the phone dies again you should be able to determine at what step it was damaged. I feel like the most likely reason would be a cable or jack showed or similar. How well did the cable people test? Ideally they would test end to end with a Fluke or similar quality tester and provide a report. Good luck.

What model Cisco switch? Did you try connecting it with default config and current firmware? I think the SG models have their own TAC you could contact to help you look at logs, crash dumps, etc.

Yeah, I would just get started manually configuring them. If it was dozens or more switches it might be worthwhile to do something with the API, but I guess you can knock these out in a couple hours or less and be done. good luck!

Nothing automated that I am aware of or would trust. Since you can configure the Meraki easily even without even needing hardware online I would just get two laptops/windows/monitors side by side and start configuring the new stuff based on the existing config output. Good luck and of curiosity how many switches are you talking about?

There is no SIP ALG on Meraki MX so you must have some other issue.

You don't need an account to submit an RMA return request. In fact, I use incognito mode because if you are logged in, it sometimes causes issues by pre-filling unwanted data. I would run a packet capture while using TikTok from both mobile and desktop and then review the host names and IP addresses used so you can create some rules to block those specifics. It may not be perfect, but should do the trick with some possibility you need to revisit again if they change some things.

I agree you really should get a site survey and then can determine what is going on with channel utilization and interference. What do you mean, "..some AP they get be down" though? that may be a different issue like cable or power, etc?

If you hover over the connectivity bar in appliance status it will sometimes give useful reasons like power, DNS, connectivity, etc. reason for being offline. If it was a quick reboot it might not show anything though. This is an example of a recent upstream internet outage, for example:

I know one way to find out 🙂 Seriously though, try and see if they can connect to your VPN, then you will know. Maybe be conscience of trouble you may expose yourself or friend to though as well. I just read news though that there is no shortage of public VPN service available to Russians and subscriptions have increased exponentially so not really sure you are offering anything special for them.

I think you may only see it under the MX Events tab and not the MX Summary tab. Which makes sense because you would be interested in the specific event, not the summary of events in this case of seeing the packet.

And I'll just add that it will be impossible to have a consistent repeatable configuration because every hotel can use many different methods to authenticate as a wireless client. Some you may be able to find a way around, maybe spoof MAC address after first authenticating via phone or laptop or other kludgy methods. Actually, I think MacOS and probably Windows have an internet sharing feature that could possibly maybe work? Connect to hotel WiFi via laptop that has wired port and enable internet sharing. Plug in Meraki to wired port of laptop and go?
