It's only a Microsoft problem because cisco won't roll out a vpn client for meraki. The free windows vpn is really only for devices you get free from isps where its not worth their while to do anything better. To have systems with 1000s of users not having a vendor client is a joke tbh. ... View more

Find it strange that people blame Microsoft. The built in vpn is no solution for business level vpn. The problem is that cisco bought meraki in 2012 and 10 years later they have no vpn client of their own. The whole cisco anyconnect debate going on for as long. The blame for this lies solely with the guys selling the hardware. Windows client is for $200 devices not 10 grand devices. The anyconnect is in beta for god knows how long on meraki and still no dates for GA.  ... View more

Best approach Restricting vlans

All   We have several vlans with devices in them and want to go back to close down what's not needed. Is there a way we can see the traffic flowing in and out on a vlan with port IDs so we can decipher what's needed or not and only allow what we need.    Apologies if it's an obvious thing in the dashboard. ... Recommendation for WAN Switch

All,   We have a new site where we are using primary ISP and Resilient link and 2 x MX250 routers. In the past we would have 1 ISP connected to primary mx250 and a secondary connected to a secondary MX250.   But with the resilient failovers this isnt recommended and the ISP requests a switch to sit between their kit and the 2 x MX250s.   The fibre links to their kit are 10gb and the same on the mx250 so Im looking for a switch to fulfill the task.   I already have MS425 switches for aggregation and have a spare and wonder how suitable the MS425 would be for WAN switch or should I look at others. Having another MS425 would mean that i can manage it in the same way as the others and have spares to suit that device on hand too.   What are your thoughts on what option would be best.     ... Thanks Guys.   I think I need to change the approach.   I currently have 2 MS425 stacked with 2 QSFP stack cables.   I need to add a seperate 40gb QSFP uplink to each MS425 but I dont have any spare ports as the stacking cables have them all used..   I either change the uplink to 10gb SFP+ and leave the 2 MS425 stacked with 2 QSFP stack cables.   Or add the 40gb QSFP uplink to each MS425 and change the stacking capabilities to 10gb.   Id prefer the 40gb QSFP uplink but cant find anywhere a Meraki SFP+ stack cable only the .5m Twinax Cable with SFP+. What cables is needed to stack the MS425 woth SFP+ ?   Bit silly that the QSFPs are all consumed with Stacking cables and none spare for an uplink. ... View more

If I use qsfp slot on my 2 ms425 slots to connect to vm network and 2 ms425 are stacked. Will I have to create a new stack on 4 std sfp ports (2 on each switch) to recreate stack.   Will meraki 0.5m dac cables doo for that.    Is there any reason at all to stack 2 ms425 at all that are each connected to other building switches.  ... I have to connect a HPE M-series switch to a ms425 10m AWAY with 40gb.  Is it possible to connect by 40gb DAC that is supported by meraki and HPE ends.   Or do I have to go for 40gb meraki sr4 qsfp and HPE sr4 qsfp over fibre.   That would be a dearer option I'd think.     ... View more

Thanks for that.   The print to pdf is just screenshots of each page and would have to include too many pages to cover one device.   It has to be something official from within the system not a script that the data would have to be verified on.   Really weird that there is no report or export of configurations (understand backup restore isn't part of their thing) but not able to get some sort of a device config report is a bit of a flaw like the vpn client situation.   ... Best Config for new point to point branch to head office link

We currently have 2 x 1gb Internet links with site to site configured on mx250s and its working fine.    We are to get a new point to point branch to head office link which I assume connects as layer 2 to one of our mx250.   The question is do I leave the site to site vpn in place as a backup? If so what's best way to configure fail over to s to s if p to p is down.    Will I need to block or allow vlans over p to p or will it just pass the complete layer 2 network.    Any issues with having s to s and p to p together from a routing perspective.    If both Internet circuits are down will or can Internet traffic go over p to p.    Anything I need to configure to ensure Internet traffic doesn't start routing over p to p whem both Internet circuits are available    Thanks     ... Thanks guys.    As both mx 250 are online with different public ip addresses (no vip) should users have any issue when switch over happens or will it just switch from one public ip to the other.    We don't have vips setup as there are no spare ip addresses on a temporary link but plan to do that later.    We haven't anything yet either that is coming back in on either public ip so OK there too.  ... We have been testing users using AD integration on WiFi for work devices but it's max is 24 hours. This isn't much use having users log in each day.  Any way around this or to increase the time.    Also any way to stop users logging in to this on a device that's not in AD as well.    Lastly the splash screen doesn't show successful log in. It does log in but you get no message to say that. Is this normal.  ... View more
