I have found more businesses using content delivery networks sharing IP address space with each other. Let's say business partner ACME is using public ip address 23.5.5.4 and want to see our traffic coming from a specific source address. In the past that's been easy. I add 23.5.5.4 to the local networks defined in VPN settings. The traffic would come back to our data center and take on the source IP that ACME is expecting to see. But now suppose another company DOPLER is using Akamai to deliver content and the addresses are all over the place in the 23.5.0.0/16 network - at times including the 23.5.5.4 address. In the case of Palo Alto Network firewall terminating global protect, I could use DNS resolution to define the split tunnel over-riding the IP definition. So in this case I could say exclude any *.dopler.com from the split tunnel. But I don't have this option with the Meraki. Has anyone else run into this issue over overlapping address space causing problems for your split tunneling? Thank you.

We acquired some MR33s and moving them to our dashboard. I frequently have problems with registration even though I was able to add them to inventory and to a specific network. To troubleshoot I've run packet captures of the switch port of the MR33. What I am seeing *after the factory reset* are references to both the old IP address and gateway and the new IP DHCP assigned address. It doesn't make sense to me since it seems like factory reset should mean fresh as if out of the box - no? After several factory resets, adding IPv6 to the VLAN shaking the monitor the new address finally seems to take effect and the AP registers. I'd guess after an hour or so of fingernail biting. I've been telling the local techs to hold down the reset button 30 seconds since the 20 second is not effective but same result. One other thing I tried was creating a temporary vlan/subnet to get the MR33 to register with its old address thinking may then I could specify the DHCP there. That's next. But any thoughts on why I'm seeing the old addressing after factory reset?

I tried to add an MR33 for the first time to my dashboard due to an acquisition. It gave me an error that I needed to disable NBAR to do so - disable Analytics. After I got the MR33 added back to the network I found that I was able to re-enable the analytics. Is there any reason to expect Analytics to not work as normal having seemingly snuck in a few MR33's into the picture? Thank you.

These are micro-offices with 3-5 people. But I want some POE and I want the full WiFi tools I get with an MR. Sounds like that's not available. So I will go with an MR. Thanks for the info.

I have a large copy job and I noticed that maximum throughput is listed at 600Mbps. If I turned off some of the inspection services might it be possible to get closer to the 1Gbps? This is inside to outside traffic flow. Thank you.

I have an a 48 port Meraki MS and to initially set it up I will attach it to a Cisco 4510 switch. Is it possible to connect the Management port of the Meraki to a 4510 switch port in access mode? Or is that Management port just for local laptop to switch connectivity?

If I go to the routing table I can see all the subnets of each spoke site. Security has requested a list of all public IPs/WAN addresses in use by each Meraki MX. How could I get that from the Meraki dashboard?

I understand that the MX recently has been enabled to receive connections from AnyConnect clients. Is it possible to set up multifactor authentication for these AnyConnect clients? And what version is required on the MX for AnyConnect support? TY

Thank you Karstenl for that clarification. The feature is will still be useful for other apps like VDI over VPN. But too bad we can't use it for VOIP too. Fortunately we don't get too many RC problem calls.

Is the Meraki MX able to choose one particular Internet path over another based on application layer performance? For example say path A had a Ring Central VOIP MOS score of 3.5 and path B had 4.4. Can the MX automatically route all the voip out path B?

My first network was a 1200 baud modem connected to my Amiga computer and analog phone line circa 1987. It was connected to UUCP and initially would wake me up when other computers would connect to it in the middle of the night (or did it dial out? I don't recall!) to dump off the latest news group updates.

Thanks a million for helping me think it through. Even when the solution is eventually totally out of your control you're having to prove it's not your stuff. 🙂 I thought not at the start as the Meraki MX had been in place for many months without any issue with RC Polycom provisioning. But still the natives were getting restless.

The rest of the story: On their own - phones began provisioning from all sites with no change on our LAN or firewalls. It is unclear if there was a change in peering between Comcast and its next hop or if it was change done by Ring Central. Pings and traceroute from Comcast to pp.ringcentral.com continued to fail. So that aspect appears to have been a red herring and not related to the solution.
