Found the issue.   Adding "merakismoauth://com.meraki.pcc.unmanaged" under Mobile and desktop applications panel is not noted in the instructions. It is however shown in the screenshot provided that is not very accurate. After I added this, it proceeded to add the owned device and download the wi-fi config. These instructions need to be reviewed and corrected to avoid future service ticket issues.   This is what the instructions provide...     When setup properly, this is how it should look...       ... The manifest screenshot you provided is exactly what I have. The manifest screenshot in my post is provided in the How-to on official Cisco Meraki SM instructional site. Hoping a Meraki staff member will see it and handle it as needed.   The error I am getting is exactly what you were receiving in the original post that stated a redirect URL error but I am receiving this in the Meraki Trusted Manager Android app. ... The link provided has incorrect/outdated info. The screenshot for final authentication configuration shows Redirect URIs under "Mobile and desktop applications" instead of the "Web" panel. Which means the Manifest example provided is also incorrect. Can you verify?         ... View more

I was needing to "refresh" a wifi connection on an iPad that was holding on to some old authentication when attempting to auto-join a Wifi Profile created SSID. I figured I would just simply remove the designated tag I set for that profile on that device only. After doing so, I still got the message that wifi was controlled by the organization. No SSID would appear after multiple refreshes. I knew almost instantly that SSID Whitelist was activate on the Restrictions profile. The Restrictions profile is tied to multiple devices within a group. Removing the Restrictions tag affects multiple devices.   Now this was a quick remove and add tag situation so not a big deal. It is just rather inconvenient that I had to go to another profile to make a change when it really should be part of the WiFi profile. I was familiar with the setup so SSID Whitelist came to mind as the possible culprit but other admins might not think to check that since it is buried deep in the Restrictions profile.   P.S. - Force Wifi Power On should also be part of the Wifi Profile ... Per-Device Licensing confusion

The following is stated in the documentation located here.   "Current customers will not see a change in their expiration date when they convert to per-device licensing. When they purchase a new license/device and claim it into their organization, is when they will see a different expiration date. For example, if the customer's co-termination date is 1/1/2025 and they convert, their expiration date in per-device will be 1/1/2025 for all their devices/products. If they purchase 1 new AP with a 7-year license on 1/1/2025, the expiration date of that device will be 1/1/2027. The other devices will maintain the 1/1/2025 expiration date."   I understand that if I convert right now, all my devices including expired ones will all have my current co-term date applied to each of them. It states that when I purchase another device, it will have its own expiration date tied to it based on the licensing term date. The example shows a 7-year license added on 1/1/2025 expires on 1/1/2027. My math calculates that this 7-year license expires in 2 years according to this example. Is this a typo I hope? ... Delay OS software updates bug?

by sbishop in Mobile Device Management

I recently set our iPad endpoints to delay OS software for 90 days. When I manually forced a software update on two iPads, it proceeded to download 12.3. Currently 12.4 is what downloads if you do not delay the update.   Both iPads are running iOS 12. Every time I attempted to install 12.3 update, I would receive an "Unable to Verify Update" on either tablet. No matter how or where I logged into wifi, I got the same error.   It wasn't until I unchecked "Delay OS software updates" on one of the iPads that it allowed it to download and install without issue though it was 12.4.   From what I can tell, Apple doesn't provide the ability to select OS versions that are older than what is currently being deployed by the company. So in this case, does Apple not allow verification on any other OS version other than what is currently available? If that is the case, this delay option is pointless if another version is released in that time frame you specify in the restrictions option. ... View more

Android Kiosk Mode pointless?

Am I missing something or is it by design that Kiosk mode shows multiple apps on the kiosk "home" page but you cannot switch between them? Doesn't that defeat the purpose? Are you guys actually testing these functionalities before you release them? You can't even go back to the kiosk "home" page from the app you opened to unlock it by tapping the banner 6 times. If I am missing something, please fill me in. ... View more

Is there any way to disable the Personal Hotspot option in iOS 11? With organization owned devices using data paid by the company, I would prefer not to allow the user to use the hotspot feature to browse the internet or stream data intensive media on the company's dime. Maas360 is capable of this feature so apparently it is feasible. Am I overlooking it? ... View more
