When I enable Intrusion detection and prevention, My MX goes to 1/3 speed instead of 900MB  we get maybe 250MB bandwidth speeds. Has anyone else experienced this type of slowdown with Intrusion detection and prevention ... View more

Did you ever find a solution to the lack of manual network selection. We have started using the MG21Es with mutli/world SIMs and also find the auto network selection to not be optimal. Sometimes results in the unit connecting via 3G when a perfectly good 4G signal is available on another network. Our sites often run on temporary generator power which is shut down overnight so it might work one day and then the next day we end up with a different carrier.    Manual network selection options are needed, have this on a 'basic' brand 4G modem/router which is also a quarter of the price. Also any manual APN settings have to be done locally on the device and cannot be set via the Meraki dashboard. Nice idea having the management all in one place but not sure these units are quite up to scratch yet.   Just seen a MG41E is about to launch, perhaps this may improve on this.  ... View more

@m_lingenfelter and @rossbryant    Here is what I created for a profile in Apple Configurator 2.   AC2 Global HTTP Proxy   This is the string I use but sanitized.  https://www.securly.com/smart.pac?fid=xxxxx@eaglepnt.k12.or.us&user=$OWNERUSERNAME@stu.eaglepnt.k12.or.us   I then upload the created profile into Meraki and have it push out to student devices.   Securly Profile When Meraki pushes it onto the device is when the variable is sorted out and injected into the string that ends up on the iPad.  iPad Proxy Setting   Please if you have any questions feel free to reach out to me. ... @AlexAndorko  Unfortunately, no, this is one of *many* things that are visible in Dashboard but are not exposed via any API endpoint.  I keep holding out hope that they will start to publish more endpoints and close this gap, as it would be very helpful for some of us, but so far not much progress. ... This thread reminds me of a part of the definition of engineering:  it's a matter of trade-offs. As I understand it, the Meraki philosophy was something like: hide the grubby details expose fewer nerd-knobs, and (generally) make an easy-to-deploy / solid product for the everyman/woman   The trade-off of that approach is what you're describing.  Plus, because the UI is all web/cloud/browser oriented, everything that involves exposing a feature in the UI means non-trivial amounts of coding and UI/UX validation / regression testing effort.   Unfortunately, that means that, assuming the API is exposing a given feature, the fastest way to turn the nerd-knobs is via one-liner CURL commands against an API element.  OMG-we're back to Linux again and hundreds of commands you have to research through MAN pages to find the ones you need, because you only use a few of them and only a few times a year, etc.   It would be interesting to see if Meraki would consider a feature that the Asus and Netgear-level SOHO device UIs have had for years:  'Advanced Mode'.  This means they go ahead and build a UI for every possible feature in the product and hide it behind 'Advanced', maybe even with a click-thru warning 'this may break your network... you may get fired... your network may accidentally launch missiles if you mess this up...', etc.   Then, if an admin, MSP, or even customer needs a nerd-knob, it's already there, no (or hopefully fewer) TAC calls, and all is right with the world.  Now we can just spend our time in the make a wish zone asking for features. ;0) ... Hello @lchan    To check the available SSIDs on the Meraki Dashboard that you can push to devices, go to Systems Manager -> Settings -> Pick a profile -> Add WiFi Setting Payload and Select Sentry. For Manual configuration, check the same with manual settings and you would need to configure the SSID auth settings in there manually.    On the device itself, you will see the available SSIDs but the auth details would not be visible to the user. Please let me know if you have any questions. Regards, Meraki Team ... View more

That's reassuring.  The 1:1 NAT is configured with a public IP in the same subnet.  The MX was able to ping the internal hosts.   I have my second attempt in 1.5 days.   I have since made a great discovery.  This customer has 95% Meraki infrastructure.  Their is an old Cisco UCS chassis switch (in a compute unit).  While going through the Meraki events after the event I found lots of spaning tree events where a critical port started flapping. Now I am aware of that I am going to change things to remove that loop.     ... View more

Hi,   Can one of you kindly answer my query regarding the MX250 HA setup in "routed-mode"?   We do have a dual hand-off model Internet link with /29 IP subnet for HSRP mode of fail-over from ISP. We would want to use the WAN ports to participate VRRP heartbeat packets to define the failover since the WAN1 & WAN2 be part of same broadcast domain and moreover ISP routers and MX WAN connections are a local LAN within Data Center.   Is that something possible in MX? If yes, should we proceed to use a VIP in WAN or not?   As a note, we had single LAN connections in each MX LAN ports as a downlink and they are effectively being used for VRRP but when the downlink goes down we end up facing Active/Active role for both MX kits. ...  Hi Seshu,   Thank you for the reference.  I do have a question about the following statement regarding VPN concentrator.   Passthrough or VPN concentrator The secrurity appliance acts as layer 2 bridge and does not modify client traffic. Configure VPN to enable communication with remote peers. Only one WAN uplink can be used in this mode.   The layer 2 is what is confusing me in one armed mode the vpn traffic is routed back over the same interface i guess. It is not that it is building Layer 2 VPN's over IPSEC? ... View more
