Good morning, Im sure i missed something, but why is there two version of the MR firmware labeled as stable in my dashboard? I have a mix of MR42, MR53 and MR74 in my environment all running 26.6.1 but i see that 27.5.1 is also listed. Should i be upgrading? Thanks! Dylan.

Good morning, I was looking around our firewall and noticed a series of IDS attacks being blocked by our MX. I was hoping there was a way to just get alerts when an IDS ruleset was being triggered vs getting an alert anytime malware is blocked. Is there a way to get only this kind of alert? Thanks.

Do you have the web search filtering turned on under the content filtering tab? We've also been seeing some funky things with Advanced Malware Protection if you have that enabled, it might be worth turning that off too.

Technically its listed as a PoE device, so any proper PoE injector should do the trick for you. If anything id reach out to Meraki sales and double check.

Good morning everyone! We have been seeing some interesting behavior on our authentication servers that i want to investigate. I was wondering if there is a way to log or view inbound connections that are hitting our MX100 without doing a mass packet capture on the WAN interface. Anybody have some ideas? Thanks! Dylan.

Seeing as your DHCP server is on another subnet, it might be worth checking your VLAN settings to allow "DHCP relay" and then input the DHCP server address. That way the switches know where to send DHCP requests

I think you're getting about what you should be. The VPN overhead is a decent amount so you're getting pretty close to expected speeds. As for the limits, the traffic shaping is telling the MX what you have available, the per client bandwidth is what limits the clients connected behind the MX.

I wouldn't recommend doing so many SSID's. Anything more then 4 SSID per AP and you're going to start seeing significant speed impacts, it also does nothing for security. TBH i would run 1 or 2 SSID's with the AP's set to L2 LAN isolation. That way devices cant talk to each other even if they are connected to the same SSID. As for key management, that can be a fun one. Depending on how your environment is setup, and who owns the devices you may want to consider a captive portal with 802.1X authentication or just use a PSK.

That sounds like a bit of a bug. When you override via IP that should set the location to be whatever you set. for me its worked well when i manually added the location and IP, otherwise everything would be across the country! The only thing i can thing of is the client is reporting the wrong external IP, thus giving wrong information. Best of luck!

I haven't played with it too much in my environment, as i dont have VoIP - yet. But i think Meraki makes it easy to classify traffic on a port as voice traffic, setting its QoS priority higher. In this case, Meraki documentation will be a friend. Check this out: Link to FAQ about VoIP
