You can use the "Show or hide apps" feature in a Restrictions profile. But you will still need to apply it with tags.

I went to an Apple panel yesterday at the CITE conference where they demostrated Return to Service. It was a smooth demostration of a cool feature. Apple used Mosyle as their MDM. When I talked to a couple Apple people after the demostration and mentioned my MDM doesn't support this feature yet, they asked me what MDM I used. When I said Meraki, they made a face and suggested I "get a real MDM."

On the 'new' page, I see a link above the [Add Devices] button located top right, titled "View old version" On the 'old' page, I see a link to the right of the [Add Devices] button located top right, titled "View new version" I'm a full admin and we have been using Meraki for years, before the interface updates. I don't know if any of that matters regarding if these links show up or not

On the 'old' version you can use " OR " between devices entries to search for multiple devices. This was very useful and I even created an Excel/Docs formula using concantinate() to generate a string of text for me. This does not work in the 'new' version and I con't find anything that does. I almost exclusively use the 'old' version because of a lack of this feature. Here is a sample of my excel formula =CONCATENATE(A1&" OR ",A2&" OR ",A3)

Any word a fix? It would be really great for us school districts to have this option in the summer. With the new 17.5 I noticed a new error when trying to do a "return to service" erase. Code: 12008 Domain: MDMErrorDomain Error: The MDM request is invalid.

We have supervised iPads. We do not want to update to IOS 17 yet. We do need to update devices on IOS 15 to 16.6. When I use the new update feature I only see IOS 17.3 as an option.

Thanks, that is what I expected. We do have a process using separate tags but it requires more hands on babysitting and verifying, greatly increasing iPad setup time.

We use a content filter called iBoss on our iPads that uses a VPN. Their latest cloud connector app requires the profile settings be installed first, before the app, or else it breaks all network connection. I would love some kind of conditional rule, like this app will only be installed on the iPad if a specific profile is installed first. There doesn't seem to be a way to do this but thought I would ask the community.

An MDM like Meraki System's Manager only controls certain settings and app installations. Your employer can not remotely access any user or app data. They also can not remotely view your screen. But they will be able to tell what apps are installed, if they allow you to install your own apps that is. If they have physical possession of the iPhone, then they can clear your lock code and get full access to your device and data.

I got the following to work using "Modify the fields of a device" Leave the Params unchanged. Enter your networkid in the Path Variables {{baseUrl}}/networks/:networkId/sm/devices/fields Go to the Body and modify it, adding bracketed entries to match the headers in your CSV file. {

I'm attempting to edit the existing "Modify the fields of a device" under PRODUCTS > sm > Configure > Fields. I'm not bothering with the CSV file part yet, I'm just trying to get it to work by filling in the fields for one device. {{baseUrl}}/networks/:networkId/sm/devices/fields?serial=&name= After filling in the fields it will look like this, pulling the networkId from a path variable. {{baseUrl}}/networks/:networkId/sm/devices/fields?serial=xxxxxxxxxx&name=RenameTest The error I get is 400 bad syntax. My ticket response from Meraki: "factory resetting a devices before moving it to a new network is considered by Meraki to be the best practice for a clean deployment" So basically, the answer is everything is working as expected. I guess this is the new reality we will need to adjust to.

We are a school district with the same issue. After dealing with Apple and Meraki support for hours yesterday we got a short reply from Meraki: This was brought to our attention yesterday and there was a new feature that was activated from our end. Hence this is expected behavior when a device is reset. I agree it seems to be a new "feature" that was implemented with no way to turn it off. It is a hassle now, but will be a nightmare in summer when we wipe all the iPads.
