An still the "Switch stacks will learn MAC addresses from ports in the STP blocking state which can trigger a constant flood of MAC flaps in the event log" that has been there for ages ???

When designing the office network it was choosen so moving away from it would take some effort. At the time our multiple floor office was really crowded and it seemed a good choice. We did not and have not any issues with it. So i kept watching the release notes and would expect a fix to be introduced after numerous versions and patches. Stepping away from an available technique is an option but as reason firmware instability is a bit odd.

So have people encountered this loss? For a long while I have been and still am hesitant in updating the firmware as we use L3 roaming. And in every release note it is mentioned 😕

Fortunately this has been fixed from 17.9: There is an increased risk of encountering device stability and performance issues on all platforms and across all configurations. We'll wait for 17.10 to become the stable version.

We've had Cisco all day long and an architecture which made it possible to update every single component with little to none downtime. And we were able to have specific devices to update to see how things went. In the office all is replaced by Meraki. Seems ok but i really do miss some enterprise worthy things; - Changing configs on vlans without interrupting other vlan traffic (On MS for example) - Changing ospf config without the possibility to determine the moment of clearing the proces by yourself. - No LACP on MX's - being able to update 1 or 2 devices without having to "clone" the network to specific subsets - being in control of which version you exactly want. You only have stable, release candidate and beta and no choices in between. - Advanced logging from the gui so you don't have to contact support to have some logs which you would normally see yourself (Like the exact reason why a failover was triggered on the MX) - etc etc So for beginner network admins or system admins things seem sufficient and graphically logic, but I am more flexible with Cisco.

Basically we have a stacked set of 250's doing the L3 and other 250's as access switches providing the vlans. The stack is connected to a failover pair of MX250's with static routes. The MS stack is doing static routing as we don't have OSPF peers anymore. At the acces MS250's the accesspoints are connected, providing L3 roaming wifi. We run 12.30. Traffic is interrupted long enough for issues to arise. First it was by the ospf process clearing and appearently the routing table flushed or something. Now i don't know as most are static routes, Meraki isn't clear about that other than interrupts happen.

So i again had an issue where removing some port configuration (sticky mac addresses and vlan config on access ports to endpoints) resulted in unexpected behaviour of our entire Meraki stack containing MX, MR, MS so i created a case. Apart from not being able to find the cause of the issue TAC also mentioned this : "but we need to keep in mind that changing any layer 3 interface on the switch causes a reload of the configuration and therefore a brief disconnection of the clients." This annoys me very much, already have experienced when adding a vlan interface the OSPF proces to our ASR routers got reset and indeed disconnects. But this restricts us from changing config during daytime on lots of items. How can this be accepted ? I know the OSPF process has to be reset when adding items but it would make sense to have a separate option for that. Also i find it unacceptable what support mentions "changing any l3 interface cause a reload of the configuration and thus disconnects clients" ... Seriously ?? How do other members here experience this behaviour ? I am used to Cisco devices and Meraki feels just so home-user here.

I have been implementing SSO with AzureAD on our Meraki environment. Could not find how to login as no SSO option was visible at the dashboard. It appeared Meraki doesn't support client initiated login ?? I've found on another site: Identity Provider (IdP) initiated sign-in. You will not be able to sign in directly from the Mearki dashboard, you will need to sign-in via https://myapps.microsoft.com/ or your Office 365 portal or you can find a direct URL for the app on the Manage => Properties section on the Azure application in the “User access URL” field. Am i the only one who finds this frustrating ?

tnx for the explanation. I do find this hard to accept, i want to run stable only and 12.30 contained the fix we wanted. New versions with features always contain bugs and now we have to wait longer until we get a stable version with the fix we want.

We use a MS250 stack with MS250 access switches. The stack is connected to a pair of ASR routers and a HA pair of MX's. It was a long time ago, but we had some strange issues when on a occasion switches rebooted cause of a power failure. The stack remained up due to a connected UPS but the clients could not get connectivity once the access switches finished booting, Can't give the details anymore but i remember support pointing out to this issue. So we've stayed at 10.45.
