Have a look at this link. this is what we now use instead of splunk for our environment. EventLog Analyzer - SIEM Log management software. (manageengine.com) Runs on a single server, 12 core, 96GB RAM which also runs our Rapid7 scanning tools too.

can we assume you have told the relevant Network where to send the logs to? Look under Network wide/General/Reporting and enter the IP address of the syslog server and chose which roles you want to send over. We've moved away from Splunk and now use ManageEngine instead - considerably cheaper both software and hardware wise 🙂

we do it the same way as @PhilipDAth mentions. We have a standard fibre BB connection from BT (we are in the UK) that we use to connect our test kit to meaning we can test them out before sending/deploying to site. cheap solution 🙂

Hi jay_b, if you've used postman before, then stick with it for testing of the relevant calls and parameters they use. with regards to powershell, i wrote the one posted in the link below and just used google and postman to help me. postman for how the calls etc are formatted and what json results are returned and then google on how to create functions and subroutines,parse json data, use arrays etc in powershell. rgds Gary (nealgs)

Hi Paul1226, Hmm, strange one is this. It looks to of failed in the Get-WifiSSID function which is called once it gets the site ID ($s_id) from the Get-SiteID function. Are you sure that the Network you are querying has any wireless devices on it? If i run the scripts against a site without any wifi devices i get an Invoke-WebRequest error at the same point.

Thanks kYutobi I was aware of the combine for existing networks, this is more for adding MDM to an existing network. There is no option i can see to create a new MDM in a network that is already there. You have to create a new MDM network and then do the combine option rather than just adding to a network that already exists directly - unless i'm missing something 🙂 cheers Gary

Hi All in Meraki land, Wanting to add MDM to an existing network - is it possible other than by creating new network and combining them? Currently using the Legacy version on 2 networks but they are themselves separate networks. Want to bring each locations MDM into their respective Network but can't see any option when in a selected network to add it. cheers all 🙂

Hi Tehsin, Don't fully understand your question, need a few more details. What is prompting for username and Password? is it the VPN client when connecting via 4g or home wifi or any network not local to the shared drives. How are you authenticating teh VPN clients - Meraki local, AD or something else. Are the devices part of an AD Domain? rgds Gary

well, strangely enough i've just tried IE to the same pc that is not showing the screen in Chrome and low and behold - it shows the screen fine. So it would appear to be a Chrome related issue possibly 🙂 cheers Gary

Anyone have an issue with Remote Desktop in live tools connecting but not showing the screen? I can do Process list etc and they work fine. Try remote desktop, user confirms that Remote desktop is connecting (users background goes black) but the Meraki Dashboard doesn't show the screen - even when you try and expand it it's blank. Device is Windows 10 machine, tried rebooting PC, and windows updates are upto date etc. It's a really good feature but (even though it still says Beta and has been for the past 3yrs or more) it's a bit hit and miss at times - are there any plans to finish this and move it out of Beta into final release?? I prefer using it (albeit it when user has more than one Monitor it gets a bit awkward to see everything) over GotoAssist for example. cheers Gary

IIRC windows 10 client defaults to tunnel all. in the script that PhilipDAth points to you can select tunnel type 🙂 rgds Gary

Hi Jason7, I've never seen that error before 🙂 very strange. I've had the script running for over a year now. Executes a scheduled task at 4pm every Friday to change the guest wifi password and sends out and email to a couple of recipients with the new one. We had 3 MR18 up until last week all running on latest firmware. Not aware of any issues with them in the time we've had them other than failing and needing an RMA on one of them. there isn't something as simple as a Traffic shaping rule applied to the SSID(s) is there?

Are they all running the latest firmware? We've just replaced our MR18 and MR12 devices with some new MR36 as the latter where 4yrs old or more. No licenses needed as they where replacements for the existing licensed devices 🙂

We had a similar dilemma a couple of years or so ago when we began our migration to Meraki kit (so glad we did) 11 sites through-out europe ranging in size from 100 people to around 5 - plus host system at a data centre. ended up with 2 MX84's for sites with 70 + users and rest went with MX64 and one Mx65 for site that was going to have dual circuits (but didn't in the end - doh! ) It's best to go have to much than not enough as you end up buying twice otherwise.
