In terms of authenticating onto the network, you would need to implement a RADIUS server. That way you can restrict only specific devices to join.   Otherwise you can assign group policies based on device type (after authentication). There is very high interference in that 2.4Ghz channel.  2.4Ghz is often susceptible to interference due to the number of devices and limited amount of non overlapping spectrum. This can become an issue is even medium density areas.   See if there are any channels that have less utilisation (the Meraki spectrum analyser can help there). Work with your clients to use 5ghz (most computers the days support it). Or identify sources of interference and turn them off. The official Meraki SFP compatibility matrix is linked below. I don't believe any of those listed are simplex transceivers. Small-Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) and Stacking Accessories - Cisco Meraki Documentation   However, a quick google shows a number of 3rd party simplex transceivers that claim to be Meraki compatible, so assumedly (depending on where their claims come from) they may work in some Meraki devices. Of course, all of these will be without guarantee or support.   If you can, I suggest testing the link with other devices that do support the simplex mode SFP. It depends on the switch and which date you're looking at. The EOS (End of Sale) date just means you can't buy the switch anymore. If I remember correctly you can still buy licenses up until the EOST (End of Support) date in which the device is no longer officially supported.
