I was able to recreate your result with my ASM that has worked fine all year with SIS imports through SFTP. I would most definitely say this is buggy behavior and needs a support case with Meraki.

I would try doing another ASM sync on the owners page and seeing if it corrects itself otherwise I would suggest opening a case with Meraki. One thing I will recommend from experience is to get an export from your SIS setup as soon as possible as that can take a bit of doing to get everything exporting correctly.

You've touched on a major issue I have had since managed Apple IDs were implemented, the lack of the ability to push books to iPads based on serial numbers. We have not used Apple IDs for our students other than to designate who is using which iPad for Apple Classroom, though with Apple Schoolwork being released we likely will be rolling out Managed Apple IDs to every student. Unfortunately until Apple can give us the ability to push books to devices, something I've asked for for years, I don't know that there is an easy way to push books to Managed Apple IDs in Meraki.

The app push and request process is based on what is available from the App Store, unless you are pushing a custom App. So no, if the older version isn't available from the App store you cannot load it.

So I was just at a meeting with Apple and the topic of Activation Locks came up and how they don't always clear successfully through the MDM. One of the things that was brought up was that most MDM vendors are not utilizing Device Based activation locks, they are still relying on the iCloud based activation lock system. Does anyone happen to know if Meraki is using Device Based Activation locks? If not, can we get them? Be aware the Apple Business manager is not for creating Apple IDs for users other than those who need to manage DEP/VPP functions. That is one MAJOR difference in the two programs. I was just at a meeting with Apple and that was one thing they could not stress enough.

Got an email from Meraki support and this issue is now fixed. I just tested it and verified that I am now able to clear activation locks. My gut feeling is that Apple changed how Meraki needed to submit the request and it took some interaction between the two to fix the command to clear activation locks.

Came across this message today which was brand new and support is already aware of the issue. I wanted to share it here in case anyone else is seeing it. When clicking the button for clear activation lock on an iPad you receive the following error: Error - SSL_connect returned=1 errno=0 state=error: certificate verify failed

I did try it with one user in the past and saw it didn't work. Though to be honest, once I saw the requirement of using email address I lost any interest in the process as it is, in my opinion, the worst possible option for a school district to upload photos.

Did you ever hear anything back on this issue? I was thinking about implementing photos for Apple Classroom and I believe that is tied to the photos existing on Meraki first. I don't want to waste the time of determining how best to rename 4000+ photos to something with the email address.jpg. BTW, why is it email address and not username or some other identifier???

@franzyap I would suggest making a wish from the dashboard if you would like this functionality. It might take a bit of time but Meraki does listen to them. A customizable blocking message would be a nice feature to have.

So after I sync ASM into Meraki. I add on additional tags through a CSV upload with Grad Year, School and Student tags to each student. We also have students log into their iPads through AD during setup to automatically identify who has the iPad and to add auto-tags. Here is an example of how the users look: Users

@GabBlais As someone with experience pushing apps in schools I will weigh in here. If you want to control which apps are available you will want to removed the App store from the iPads. Think of the Meraki App as your app store and anything you want to have available for the iPads to use is available for download there. Right now at my district we only have a handful of apps that are pushed to every iPad and the biggest one is the Meraki App. I would recommend looking into Apple School Manager also as Meraki can bring in groups/classes from ASM which can be used to push out or make apps available based on classes that students are in. Here is an example of how I am utilizing tags at one of the schools in my district. App list Please feel free to reach out if you want more information. I have been using ASM and Meraki together since ASM was introduced and helped work out several of the issues in the early days.

Correct, you will still need your Wireless Controller in place to manage the Cisco APs, at least until you move over to Meraki APs. Be aware that if you do move to Meraki APs you cannot bring those onto the Cisco controller and from experience Cisco and Meraki APs fight with each other in a mixed environment.

@cbfs Are your APs on MR 25.11? If not, I would suggest upgrading your APs to that firmware release. It fixed an issue we were having here of an AP being marked rogue even though it was a Meraki AP in the network.

Did you do a search on the iPad for the App? I know that students love to hide Apps in folders. I don't think I've ever seen an instance of Meraki saying an App was installed and it not actually being on the iPad. Were there any restrictions setup on the iPad itself which may have been hiding the App? Hidden Apps by Meraki
