I don't think there's any logging but you could do a packet capture to see what's happening as well.

Until someone smarter than me pipes in, I'd suggest to a packet capture to see where the clients are getting the DNS info from.

Correction, one of my networks is not showing the link. It might be caused by not having Hostname visibility enabled in Network-wide --> General. I'm checking that now. Edit: Yup that's what caused it. So enable the hostname visibility and you should be good to go.

What firmware are you on? Not sure if that makes a difference or not. The details link is showing up on my networks that only have switches as well.

I just tested with myself as a VPN client and was able to restrict my bandwidth to 1Mb up and down and blocked myself from the LAN. My phone is configured to connect to the VPN via Sentry so i'm not sure if that's part of why it works. It was a separate group policy that I applied to restrict my phone.

I agree. At my prior position, we had a fiber connection as the primary WAN and then five ADSL connections as the backup WAN, we ended up connecting the five ADSL modems into a pfSense firewall (it had pf disabled so it was just routing) and connecting the pfSense into WAN2 of the MX. Not ideal by a long shot but it has done the trick for over a year now. The pfSense was able to support all six WANs by itself when it was the main firewall.

Doesn't look like there's an option to send an alert when the secondary WAN changes status. What I do is have a Nagios instance running in AWS EC2 that pings both my connections and lets me know if they're experiencing loss or go out all together.

In the DHCP settings, you can upload a CSV file that has three sets of values: Client name, MAC address, LAN IP Edit: or you can max the lease time at 1 week.

That would be awesome Philip! In my last position, we were looking for a digital display vendor and we never found a decent one so we held off. Seeing how Meraki does things though, I can happily say that they'd easily make the short list 🙂

And then if you're in the Apple VPP, you can purchase apps and assign them to the device once the device gets an internet connection. I just finished setting up some iPads that are in the DEP and VPP so I power up the iPad, tell it what language and country i'm in, hook it up to wifi and the Meraki MDM does the rest, installing apps (you need to include the Meraki Systems Manager app in the VPP for this to work), arranging the apps on the screen, etc. Thanks, Mark

My experience is that to remain supervised through a restore, the device has to be in the Apple DEP program.

The MX84 use the Intel Atom C2000 line as they are susceptible to the clock signal issue. Not sure about the other MX lines though.

Hey folks, happy new year to you all! Just wondering if there's a way to deploy the Dropbox app with an email address and password to our iPads that are in the DEP? Took a quick look but nothing jumped out at me other than being able to deploy a Wifi password. Thanks, Mark
