So about the MR26 firmware ... I just bought some MR42E access points.  After going through support channels and asking questions I come to find out that they can only run on MR26 firmware but yet in the portal, in your literature and anywhere else there is no mention of this firmware version even existing (from a new customer perspective).  Then I come to find out that I can't even read about it as it's brand new beta code etc .... this seems to be a recurring theme with Meraki I'm quickly learning.  I also purchased Insights and to run it I have to run the latest Beta code on MX gateway to even use it.   The lack of transparency here is staggering and gives the impression that Meraki is happy to get the revenue and not happy to share anything up front about it's code... By way of introducing an element of future proofing, I run Cat 6A cable ( 10GBASE-T up to 100 metres). It is noticeably stiffer than Cat 6 and requires a larger turning radius, which took some unexpected implementation adjustments, which may render the contractor's objections to 3-inch conduits nugatory.   Virtually all WAP vendors advertise fictional speed/capacity specifications. They have a system for calculating it. They calculate the maximum simplex speed for each radio under ideal and theoretical laboratory conditions (WiFi is Simplex) and then add the values together. However, the link between the AP and the switch is Ethernet full duplex. Then when you make adjustments for real world conditions you tend to find that a WAP rated at a 2.53 gbps radio rate is not limited by a 1 Gbps link in the real world.   Having had to audit the December 2016 ITU conference report,  I would be overly concerned about 5 GHz use by WiFi; access to that part of the spectrum is sought by a lot of industry sectors and special interest groups, I look forward to obtaining uncontested access to the 60GHz portion of the spectrum. The Koreans and the Japanese are making huge advances in overcming distance limitations. We are probably just as much overdue for a switch from copper to fibre as we are changing from IPv4 to v6. ... @Welles - hooray! Glad we finally resolved the gnome-sending saga to complete your collection.   The Epic Saga of Sending Welles a Gnome by CarolineS   Once upon a time, there was a gnome. The gnome lived in a nice place called Meraki HQ.     One day, he decided to leave Meraki HQ to explore the IT forests in the Meraki Community.   A kindly man named @Welles found him. Welles was very excited to find him, because Welles already provided a comfortable home for several other gnomes.     The gnome wanted to go visit Welles in order to see his brothers. He asked the friendly lady at Meraki HQ to send him to Welles' desk.   However, the trip in the mail was rough. The gnome did not enjoy it!     Luckily, the gnome had a bit of backup at Meraki HQ, and again he was sent through the mail. This time, he was well-protected.      However - one of his brothers had snuck into the package! Clever MR gnome had made the trip instead!     Welles already had an MR gnome, and, while he was happy to provide a home for this new MR gnome, he really wanted a yellow switch gnome. So the lady back at Meraki HQ tried again.   This time, switch gnome arrived at Welles' desk unbroken. Hooray! While I also think it would be nice to filter the Network Wide Clients page by the "Connected to" column, I've found that adding that column and linking directly to that switch I can see all connected clients on the Switch's Summary page. You can drop in IP address, port, and VLAN into that grid as well. Not a total solution, but maybe get by until they add it to the Network Wide Clients.  ... View more

I think the app is serious lacking in functionality compared to the dashboard. I've seen apps of other vendors which have a lot more functionality and are still usable so I think Meraki should spend more attention to the app. It would be great if more functionality was added as it really handy to solve simple problems when a normale computer isn't available at the moment.  ...
