Some MX65W and MX68W within our environment have the same issue after upgraded to 17.10.2 . I even tried the beta 18.103 and that also did not fix the problem.   End up calling Meraki downgrade back to 16.16 and all good....  Meraki will have a nightmare after upgrading all their customer to this GA in January. ... Thanks everyone for the response. I'm now leaning heavily towards getting the 10GTEK version and save 40X. ($23 each compare to $999 each )   Anyone can justify why Meraki sells transceivers that cost 40X compare to a 3rd party compatible units? ... View more

Hello Meraki Gurus,   I'm planning to refresh our 5 departmental switches  to Meraki MS225-48LP .The switch cost seems very reasonable but the 10 GbE SFP+ SR Fiber Transceiver cost $999 MSRP Each and i will need 10 of this which will cost me $10K MSRP before discount.A quick search on Amazon shows a compatible model from 10GTEK selling for only $22 each. Anyone using this 3rd party transceivers with their Meraki network? Any other ideas to safe the save on the ridicules transceiver cost ?   https://www.amazon.com/10Gtek-SFP-10G-SR-Transceiver-10GBASE-SR-300-meter/dp/B00U8Q7946/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=10gbe+sfp%2B+sr+fiber+transceiver&qid=1599056676&sr=8-4                   ... Meraki makes great switches. Just don't buy them used. Their MSRP are ridicules priced. Try to work with your rep For a good price and hopefully you can stay with full stack Meraki for a single pane of glass control. ... View more

How about a Meraki NVR for the MV line.   - Small form factor NVR size like a Apple TV - Build in 4TB+ Internal HDD for long term retention. - Build in encryption just like the MV + Controlled thru the Meraki portal - MV can record to itself and NVR. - Camera got stolen or destroy? Footage still available on the NVR somewhere secure in the building. No need high bandwidth and costly cloud storage.     ... View more

Hi PhilipDAth, I bought the used Meraki Equipment from the previous owners (Not Stolen) and they did unclaimed it from their dashboard and I claim it on mine without any issue. I was also able to use it for about 5 weeks without noticing any issue. I also bought a full 3-year license which should include "warranty to the device". What I found out is Meraki will not honor the "Lifetime Warranty" part if the equipment if purchased from an unauthorized Meraki seller in this case the owner of the device. I still have the 48 port switch + 2+ years license with me in my office as decoration LOL. Hopefully, Meraki will change some policy and I can RMA the item in the future. ... View more

Ideally, we want Meraki to allow us to change of ownership even with a high premium. That's a win-win situation. Meraki earn a new customer + profit and the Used equipment doesn't get wasted in the landfill. ... View more

Brute Force RDP

Hi Everyone,   I have a 1:1 NAT setup for my outside users to login to my remote desktop server. Recently I notice some Brute Force attack to that server. Any best practice anyone can share to prevent this?    Here is what I did so far....   - Layer 7 group policy to only allow 1 country ( still some attack coming within that country) - Complex username / password ( users hate the complexity but a lot harder for a dictionary attack ) - ideally, I could set up only allow trusted IP but most clients do not have static IP / VPN.   So anyway within MX that allows me to set maximum connection retry within 1 hours to prevent brute force etc? Any good 3rd party 2fa solution I could use?   Thanks in advance.. ... View more

Wow 6MB sharing with 50 - 100 users? Are you using satellite or something? I don't think any QOS will help much. I would block all recreational access if possible and also get a second internet ( 4G LTE cell-based internet) and bond it together.. ... View more

features request: How does Face ID work? Apple uses a combination of infrared emitter and sensor (which it calls TrueDepth) to paint 30,000 points of infrared light on and around your face and also capture flat or 2D infrared snapshots. For the points, the reflection is measured, which allows it to calculate depth and angle from the camera for each dot and construct a depth map. ... View more

Me too... I will buy a lot more MV if they have a cloud storage option.... For now, all we could do is to overlap those MV to catch the person who stole the camera unless that thief takes them all.... We also use a lot or Wifi & cell-based Netgear Arlo that support live cloud storage. ... View more

Great to know all these additional SLA options... I do keep a bunch of Meraki hardware in-hand ( I'm currently managing 50+ Meraki Network) for a quick swap if needed.... and we setup hot spare / VRRP on all mission-critical hardware such as MX Firewall.   Another great thing with MERAKI - Hot spare hardware does not require a license or in Cisco terms Smartnet. ... I would like to share my 1st AP RMA experience with Meraki yesterday and it was quick, easy and painless 🙂     6-5-2018   1.41PM - Called Meraki Support -  Cisco Meraki Technical Support answer the phone within 3 rings ( not a receptionist to route your call depends on severity like many other company does "including Cisco")...    After few minutes of quick diagnostic we concluded the hardware needed RMA. Whole process took about 10 min.   Same day at 8.21PM the item has been shipped to me via FedEx Priority Overnight ( I was able to unclaim the old AP from my dashboard and claim the new one and set them name / location etc from home)    6-6-2018 9.30AM i reveived the replacement AP from Fedex with a return lable.     6/06/2018 - Wednesday 9:21 am Delivered   Fairfax, VA   Delivered to address other than recipient 9:21 am Delivery exception   HERNDON, VA   Customer not available or business closed 7:59 am On FedEx vehicle for delivery   HERNDON, VA     7:41 am At local FedEx facility   HERNDON, VA     6:12 am At destination sort facility   DULLES, VA     5:02 am Departed FedEx location   INDIANAPOLIS, IN     2:08 am Arrived at FedEx location   INDIANAPOLIS, IN       6/05/2018 - Tuesday 6:44 pm Left FedEx origin facility   ONTARIO, CA     6:37 pm Shipment information sent to FedEx         4:27 pm Picked up   ONTARIO, CA ...
