This support you are referencing is only intended for School Manager. Apple Business Manager (or formerly DEP) had no Managed Apple IDs before a year or so ago. So Meraki wasn't able to support this feature. As it states by Apple, for Shared iPads for Business you need iPadOS 13.4+

Fresh out of an Apple WebEx :). I hope this feature is already on the Road Map for development. According to Apple, Jamf and Mosyle have already a first step implementation. Also according to Apple, this feature requires iPadOS 13.4+

@SimonA1 This could be also the Apple ID you are using for Apple Business Manager. You can try clearing the activation lock in bulk through Dashboard. Check this post from @Kevin_C https://community.meraki.com/t5/Endpoint-Management-Systems/Activation-Locked-iPads/m-p/49665/highlight/true#M4827

Linking this threads together, maybe @Noah_Salzman or @MeredithW can merge them https://community.meraki.com/t5/Endpoint-Management-Systems/Enrolling-devices-fail/m-p/79775#M6624 According to support it's an SM issue and engineers are investigating. Maybe too many new attempts on the servers because of Corona, there are several servers fighting with requests the last days.

No, same issue on HotSpot or Cellular. one of our customer is experiencing the same issue. Got already response from support, they are aware about the problem and looking into it.

Hello everybody, is anyone else experiencing issues with enrolling devices through DEP? Yesterday I thought it is just stuck with iOS and renewed the DEP profile. But today we receive an 404 error on macOS devices. We receive the screen with "Remote Management," but when hitting Next macOS fails with "unexpected error" (404) I've already contacted support, but wanted to know if anyone else has problems with enrollments?

Bumping this up again to gain awareness how frustrating it is not being able to edit these profiles. Made also a wish. There are scenarios like iOS 13 launch, where it looked like some functions or API calls got deprecated or even new mandatory windows got added. So we haven't been able to activate our devices and have been forced to create a new profile from scratch I can imagine a scenario like this: In SM we should be able to edit the settings and in the background SM can create a new version of the profile and push it to Apple Business Manager. (According to dashboard, Apple doesn't allow the deletion of DEP profiles)

Why not connecting all iPads to the hub, starting AC2 and put one by one into DFU while they are connected to the Mac running AC2? For DFU you have to use the hardware keys on the device. There is no way to put a device into DFU through iTunes. iTunes will just recognize the device is in DFU like AC2 will. But with AC2 you can update/restore more devices at the same time so you save yourself some time.

"Do you know if it's possible to put a stack (approx 5) into DFU mode at the same time?" - What do you mean exactly? You have to touch every device and put it into DFU. After that u can update/reset all 5 (using a hub) at the same time with AC2. We use a ten port hub with external power and are able to update/reset all devices at same time.

You can wipe the devices through Apple Configurator 2 when putting them to DFU. Not sure if it also works if you mark all iPads, right mouse click and than say "factory reset" We are wiping daily over 50 iOS devices managed and unmanaged. DFU always works 🙂

Using Meraki Hardware (Switch, AP, Firewall etc) with Intune as MDM is absolutely possible. Integration depends on how deep you want to go with integration. You can connect your Firewall with your Azure Active Directory and therefore push some certificates through Intune which will coop with Meraki hardware. That's my understanding of your third question.

@Yuya After going through this feature (you linked) with an Apple technician I can confirm, that this integration makes only sense if you have BYOD enrollment scenarios for User Enrollment. This will give your organization the ability to prevent your employees to use their company mail as a private Apple ID for purchasing Apps etc.

Variables already worked for our profiles, see this thread https://community.meraki.com/t5/Endpoint-Management-Systems/Exchange-online-Microsoft-Office-365-not-working-when-pushed/m-p/71184/highlight/true#M6164 But we are facing here another issue with custom profiles

Any update on when we can expect full support? After a deeper conversation with a technician from Apple I now have a clearer understanding of this feature. Most important why I would like to see this soon supported by Meraki "With User Enrollment, Admins are only able to wipe company data. If the MDM doesn't support User Enrollment, a BYOD scenario will be enrolled as "Device Enrollment." This still gives an Admin the full wipe ability!"

I had a similar case months ago, but didn't figured out why it happened. Tried it also with support, but no real success. They just said, that there has been a bug on server side impacting many other instances and customers and that they'll maintain it. Since then I didn't notice devices losing their owners.

There are two things to do in Meraki (which are a bit confusing) after you purchase an App in School Manager. First sync the Account under Systems Manager -> VPP After that navigate to Systems Manager -> Apps and add the desired App to this dashboard and configure the scope. This should be it. Use the docs for reference and step by step description :).

The Apple ID you use for School Manager is also capable for using with VPP, you need just to activate Apps & Books, upload the token to Meraki and you are fine to go. Reference to the Meraki docs for deploying apps through School Manager https://documentation.meraki.com/SM/Apps_and_Software/Apple_Volume_Purchase_Program_(VPP)
