Last reply from support. „Yes the screen being locked could interfere with the profile deployment. Also if a user was not logged into the device there would be no user channel to deploy the profile to.“ We deployed the profile on two devices with success

@grldP-NS do you see this option already in the custom profile interface? Could you try deploying the profile on a test device. Following configs worked for me Deploy the profile by using user tags for the scope. Owner (in SM) and logged in user should be the same. The user should be actively logged in on the device. The point that still fails -> Variables are not recognized properly

As far as I know, Google is planning with Android 11 to provide an standardized API for manufacturers, so EMMs can use this command to push Updates on all Android devices. Samsung for example is currently solving this on their own way with E-FOTA (which needs seperate licenses) With SM you could try to force the user to update by providing compliance policies. And if a device isn't compliant, you can delete profiles until it's compliant again.

Yes, that's what the docs say, but why am I loosing connection if switching now between v1 and v2? Something could be wrong in the code. @MeredithW any date when this was released? I need to know whom am I going to blame for the support invoice 🙂

I'll hang in her with a question. Since when is this option active? (IKE Version) We experienced an issue this weekend and had no clue where the problem has been caused because no settings on either site had been changed. Every site showed a green light on connected but no access from/to azure or on-prem was possible. Today we switched the IKE Version to v2 and everything worked fine again, turning it back to v1 closed all traffic again. The weird thing at all, Azure is configured for IKEv1. We are now a bit confused what's causing this behavior. We also opened a case at Microsoft. Customers equipment: MX67 running 14.42

Depending on your use case you have two options. First: When disabling Factory Reset for the user, you (or the user) will have to reset the iPad through iTunes in case of a software problem. Second: You can always force location tracking to "ON" on DEP devices with "Lost Mode" and track the location. But remember, after activating and deactivating "Lost Mode" user will be notified. Location tracking is not only an Apple thing, it's also a GDPR thing in the EU. Users must always be notified about location tracking. If your company policy informs the users before handing the devices out you are safe to force the user to enable location tracking. This could be achieved by some compliance policies.

Got an update from support "I've just been informed and confirmed that there is a new field in the Mac custom profiles called Deploy Channel with the option of Device or User. They are still making additional improvements but this should allow you to deploy your Profile."

Due to covid things took a bit longer and support is still investigating. First the developers meant, the behavior is as expected. After I could prove that this isn't true and provided some logs, the devs are investigating again.

@SimonA1 This could be also the Apple ID you are using for Apple Business Manager. You can try clearing the activation lock in bulk through Dashboard. Check this post from @Kevin_C https://community.meraki.com/t5/Endpoint-Management-Systems/Activation-Locked-iPads/m-p/49665/highlight/true#M4827

Maybe too many new attempts on the servers because of Corona, there are several servers fighting with requests the last days.

Hello everybody, is anyone else experiencing issues with enrolling devices through DEP? Yesterday I thought it is just stuck with iOS and renewed the DEP profile. But today we receive an 404 error on macOS devices. We receive the screen with "Remote Management," but when hitting Next macOS fails with "unexpected error" (404) I've already contacted support, but wanted to know if anyone else has problems with enrollments?

Why not connecting all iPads to the hub, starting AC2 and put one by one into DFU while they are connected to the Mac running AC2? For DFU you have to use the hardware keys on the device. There is no way to put a device into DFU through iTunes. iTunes will just recognize the device is in DFU like AC2 will. But with AC2 you can update/restore more devices at the same time so you save yourself some time.

"Do you know if it's possible to put a stack (approx 5) into DFU mode at the same time?" - What do you mean exactly? You have to touch every device and put it into DFU. After that u can update/reset all 5 (using a hub) at the same time with AC2. We use a ten port hub with external power and are able to update/reset all devices at same time.

You can wipe the devices through Apple Configurator 2 when putting them to DFU. Not sure if it also works if you mark all iPads, right mouse click and than say "factory reset" We are wiping daily over 50 iOS devices managed and unmanaged. DFU always works 🙂

Currently not supported, make a wish. Since TeamViewer has it's ways, Meraki could do it either. Be aware, you'll always need users attention on an iOS device.
