Automated switch port configuration

Hi all,

Is anybody aware of a way to mimic traditional Cisco's auto smart port configurations when clients connect/disconnect on Meraki hardware?

@WyldStallynz : You can do it via API call

I was really hoping that Meraki would've had ready templates to make this simple for me but it definitely appears to be a step in the right direction - thanks Inderdeep!

No, but I *hate* that feature and it never did anything but cost me time and money by trying to outsmart me and configure ports dynamically in a way I didn’t intend or even know was being set.  Do you really like the feature?  I am curious to hear how it has worked well for you and on which switches. It was the SMB switches like SG300/500 series that drove me nuts..

There is one feature supported on some MS and MR models called SecureConnect that seems somewhat useful is limited situations, I guess: https://documentation.meraki.com/MS/Access_Control/SecureConnect

You "kinda" have some of that functionality now with "SecureConnect" - That reconfigures your AP ports, and actually authenticates the AP on the port, so win win.

If only they would extend this functionality between switches, and make it so you could for example limit the number of VLANs on the secured port (or have a SecureConnect port template config you could change, one for APs one for switches, and so on 🙂 ), then it would be absolutely awesome.
