Hi all,
I hope to find an answer here as there should be at least 48 other community members CMSS certified.
Was anyone able to recertify the CMSS with other exams or CE points?
As per the FAQ, it should be possible:
Yes, details can be found on this link - specialist level certifications can be recertified using any of the following methods:
For me, none of these extended the CMSS and it shows to expire this year.
Certification support now told me that the only way to recertify the CMSS is to do the exam again.
Did the recertification work for anyone else?
Have a great day, Karsten
Solved! Go to solution.
We have been working closely with Cisco Learning & Certifications and have verified the CMSS 500-220 recertification policy.
The currently posted Cisco Meraki Solutions Specialist certification recert policy is accurate:
The Cisco Meraki Solutions Specialist is a Specialist certification within the Cisco cert portfolio :

To my knowledge no. I passed ENCOR exam about a year ago, and that didn't seem to extend my CMSS either.
According to my dashboard on Certmetrics, no.
that, and the CE dashboard is where I looked at.
I did over 80 points but its not recertified,
Im good for 2 more years. Hopefully they give ce point for the exam by then
I re-sat the CMSS exam in December to renew it. I couldn't find any other way.
Ok, with these answers it's quite obvious ...
Meraki really should think about this decision, but at least correct the documentation that is plain wrong.
Agreed. Meraki has 80% moved into the Cisco certification program.
I'm wondering if it was intended by Meraki-side that the other specialist exams would recertify the Meraki Cert, taken the Meraki FAQ into consideration. Perhaps there's miscommunication, seeing as it wasn't untill now CMSS recertifications were going to happen?
Thank you for engaging in this conversation! I want to assure you that we are taking the issue seriously and have already contacted Cisco Certifications to resolve this discrepancy promptly.

We will keep you updated on our progress and aim to provide a timely resolution. Thank you for your patience and trust in our ability to address this discrepancy.
Hmm, was it your intention not to say how the recertification is meant to work? For sure I would like if the normal Cisco-type recertification would work. But it is just that if Meraki defines that it can only be done by sitting the exam again, it just has to be documented. Then I know which exam I will do at CLUS.
This is the answer I was hoping for! 👍 Let’s see if it will work that way eventually. Would be great!

Will everyone who should've had their CMSS recertified then be updated?
Yes, as long as your previously completed achievements meet the recertification requirements and fall within the CMSS validity duration. You got it!
This is really good news that it was possible to sort this out. Every CMSS wins by this. Well, not @PhilipDAth who already recertified this time by exam … But probably next time.
Just got the answer from certification support (where I opened the initial case) that they are still in progress, but it will be extended before expiration. And as I did the exam shortly after it went live, I assume that will be solved for all CMSS. A big thank to the Meraki and Certification Support teams for working on this.
Now I have the problem that I have no idea which exam to write at CiscoLive …
BTW: My CMSS is already re-certified. Thanks to the team working on this!
