APN settings via SMS ?

Does the MG's support getting its APN settings via SMS ?

Example. I have a customer that has deployed a good number of MG's, but the ISP forgot to tell them that they needed to set a special APN (and onsite personal might not be technically skilled enough to do this manually).

The ISP supports sending the APN settings via SMS (and they claim that some other 4G gateways supports this) does the MG's ?

Thanks

Thomas

Is the device online? Something doable via the API: https://developer.cisco.com/meraki/api-latest/update-device-cellular-sims/

Are they skilled enough to  hit the factory reset button and move a cable to a LAN port?

That's a very .... ehmmm .. interesting question 🙂

And I , in all honesty, do NOT have an answer for you 🙂

But you are thinking about getting it into "safe mode" right ? Is there a way to do that by utilizing only the reset-button ?

No but it makes it easier for them to get into the local status page with a local laptop. so you set the APN

  • MG - (varies)
The local status page is accessible at the MG's LAN IP address. By default, MG devices run DHCP. Once the client is connected to a LAN interface of the MG, find the client's IP address and default gateway, then open the default gateway address in a web browser.
