We are a large consumer with Catalyst Center. We are doing SDA-Access and SDA-Wireless. We also have Meraki Cloud from some small wireless stuff we did are remote sites. As someone already mentioned i dont think either platform can be the manager of the other. i think you will have to make a fundamental choice to use MD or CC for network management. we currently are using 9300/9500 catalyst switches. we currently have two HA paired 9800 Wireless controllers. we are using 4800 Series Catalyst APs and also have 9120s. we are using EWLC controller deployments when we do wireless at FIAB (Fabric in a Box) deployments with Catalyst Center. Our paired 9800s only manage the APs for our Main Campus Fabric.

This inclusion is a welcomed as I have friends in Japan that would find this beneficial.

You can schedule a report but you get only HTML format and not CSV. Why this simple ask can't be availed! What say?

Here's a clue that a network technician is in really bad physical shape... He needs to rest after doing an SNMPwalk.

It's been almost 6 years since this post was created. How is it possible that we still can't do this? And buying a second firewall to handle guest traffic is an embarrassing solution for an "enterprise" firewall. If anyone from Meraki is listening, I beg you to please stop creating dashboards for CTO's and give us real features that engineers can use. The lack of this single feature has to be the most frustrating experience. Sorry for the rant.

I like your creativity, but this can potentially become quite an ordeal to manage which I would want to avoid. Just to mention a few, monitoring and zscaler, could make it a mess.

I also have one question / issue which I'm not sure about. Setup: Firewall <--> (trunk allowed vlan 140, 141) Switch 1 MS130 (trunk all) <--> (trunk all) Coreswitch MS390 (trunk all) <--> (trunk all) Switch 2 MS130 (trunk allowed vlan 10, 140) <--> MR46 I can see the MAC address of the firewall interface in vlan 140 on Switch 1. But not on the Coreswitch or Switch 2. Seems as if the Coreswitch ignores VLAN140. What is the right way to troubleshoot this? I just configured one port of the Coreswitch as access vlan 140 port and then vlan140 was available also on Switch 2.

If the mount is outside, you should consider looking at a Meraki outdoor AP, such as the MR76. I know they're more costly, but better peace of mind than worrying about having to replace one.

If you use WPA2-Enterprise mode authentication you could check your RADIUS server logs. If you are using Windows NPS as your RADIUS server, filter the security log on the NPS server for Event ID 6272.

Access Point licences are non model-specific - you could use you LIC-MR-xxx for MR36 or MR44 (or indeed CW91xx APs, managed in the Dashboard too)

this is true which we all know by now. there are however gotchas that are serious and you might not want to do this as the Cloud Monitoring Tool for Catalyst makes a scad of changes including SNMP v2c using the Community Public. This is bad, bad, bad and our pentester has ordered us to delete the line. SNMP v3 has been out for ages and is always preferred over v2c. and for gods sake why use the hackerfriendly community of Public? Our CISO says Cisco is not a security company and that sure is one proof of it.

BerlinITGuy's suggestion worked. Also crazy that this still hasn't been addressed by Cisco.

so, i turned off the client balancing on the radio default indoor profile. The error code 17 went away almost completely. The association error code 30's are still all over the place. not sure if the 17s went away or just changed to 30s. no user feedback yet.

An IPsec or client VPN will always terminate on your primary WAN port. AutoVPN's can be made simultaneously on WAN1 and WAN2. However you don't have the ability to add another port to terminate VPN's separately.

Disabling an admin account for specific times like nights and weekends isn’t natively supported in Meraki, but there are a few ways you could do it, like using the API to automate toggling their access is a solid option. Create a script to switch their organizational access between “Full” and “None” and schedule it to run at the times you need. It might take some setup, but it’s a pretty effective solution once it’s in place. Another idea is to manage access through your firewall. If the vendor accesses the Meraki dashboard from specific IP addresses, you could create time-based rules to block their traffic outside the allowed hours.

It’d also helpful to track down the devices involved in the conflict, identifying the MAC addresses can give you a clearer idea of what’s going on. As for the DNS setting, switching from "proxy to upstream DNS" probably won’t fix the conflict unless there’s a specific DNS-related issue. It doesn’t hurt to test, but I’d focus more on the DHCP setup and device configurations.

Just an update: We do not have or use an MX Firewall. We are only using the Meraki Switches and Access Points. We have the VPN category blocked at our Firewall, but just wanted to add an extra layer of security and prevent it in the Firewall and Traffic Shaping if it was an option. Thank you!
