Got it. I love the idea of combining to get more, but being limited to 250 is a total deal breaker. I'm crying over here. This sucks. *sniff*

Thanks for that. Of course as you've already responded to my other message, you know how unhappy that 250max is going to make me… *sigh* Cheers -Joseph

Hey there. I've been reading up on Load Balancing (in relation to my MX64) and one thing I don't quite get — when it talks about "Traffic will be spread across both uplinks…" does that mean that you are getting combined bandwidth for a single use; i.e. a single file uploaded over two 20Mbit connections will now upload at 40Mbit speeds, or does it just mean that it alternates, sometimes using one connection and sometimes using the other, but never actually getting you faster bandwidth? I regularly upload multi gigabyte files and increasing my upload speed could well be worth getting a second connection from another ISP!

Thanks @kYutobi (and others who said the same thing) — curiously, I had to ask for it, and they granted it. Strange thing to have to ask for, but OK! Sadly I still can't get my legacy devices on the network. I'm giving up. Time to upgrade I guess.

OK, I've reached out. I'll report back what they say. Incidentally I did try setting the entire network to 2.4 GHz and that didn't get these stupid devices to be seen either. Maybe it's time to retire them. Ugh.

Now that I got my Google Nest Hub on the wifi network (details here) I'm trying to get some cheap 2.4 GHz-only "smart plugs" to work. Their host app Smart Life just can't find the plugs, and they have all kinds of warnings that they don't work on 5 GHz. Even though my SSID is set to both, I can't get them to be found. So I figured I'd set up a 2.4 GHz only hidden network to try to make a connection. However I can't figure out how to set up a SSID with just 2.4 GHz. Here's where I'm stuck. Under Wireless > Configure > Radio Settings > RF Profiles I can choose both or a just 5 or 2.4 GHz. This is under the Per AP selection: However I don't want my entire AP to be 2.4 GHz; just one of the SSIDs. However when I select that, there's no 5 vs 2.4 option: It says that it'll follow the band selection on the Access Control page. OK, so when visit that, the options are dual, 5 only, or "band steering": But "band steering" isn't what I want! I want 2.4 only. Does this mean that you can't do a 2.4 GHz only band as an SSID? Would the solution be to put the entire network on 2.4 temporarily, get the devices set up, then go back to Dual Band and see if the devices connect? Come to think of it, that's what I'll try in the meantime… thanks! -Joseph

Thanks for these tips. Before I tried these, the suggestion to disable "Deny Local LAN" came up and that turned out to be the easy solution. But Bonjour forwarding also sounds like something I want (this is an all Mac house), and ahh I see your suggestion of turning on LAN access is the same thing from the other. Perfect, thank you so much!

As a matter of fact, I did! Or rather, it did… I had not changed that default setting. I'm not using this in a big enterprise environment; it's a small production studio and I do it all here, so this is a huge learning curve. Thanks a bunch! -Joseph

Hi there, I've newly set up an MX64 "security appliance" (router, VPN) and the wireless AP model MR33. In the MR33 I did set the SSID "Addressing and traffic" to "Bridge mode: Make clients part of the LAN — Meraki devices operate transparently (no NAT or DHCP). Wireless clients will receive DHCP leases from a server on the LAN or use static IPs. Use this for wireless clients requiring seamless roaming, shared printers, file sharing, and wireless cameras." which allows all devices to be on the same set of IP addresses (10.0.1.x). It is also set to dual band operation. When I first configured the AP, my already-configured Google Nest Hub reconnected to the new network as I'd set up the new network with the same name/password as the old wireless one. However the Google Home app would not see the Nest Hub, so I decided to reset the Hub. With the Nest Hub reset, the Google Home app sees the Nest Hub as a new device and starts setting it up, but once it gets to the stage of connecting it to my wifi network, it gets stuck. I see an error in the Google Home app that says: "Something went wrong: (Nest Hub) may be set up, but would could not communicate with it from your iPhone. It's possible that your Nest Hub and iPhone are connected to networks that are unable to talk to one another. This may require a small change to your Wi-Fi settings" I've reset multiple times to try again, with the same result. I know some IoT devices don't do 5 Ghz, but the Nest Hub apparently does, and the network is set to dual band as noted above. I'm at a bit of a loss… is there a change to my SSID settings that I should make to get this to connect? Thanks -Joseph
